Tips for a Newbie on Losing Fat and Putting on Some Muscle?

Hi guys, I'm a 20 year old male who's about 6 feet tall and about 220 lbs, and fairly overweight. I know the foods I need to eat, but which sort of exercise program that would be best for weight lost I'm not so sure of. Lots of weights? Cardio? I'm at a loss, so I was hoping you guys could give me some tips about what kind of program would be best for that, and if I could put on a bit of muscle too, I'm all for it. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys could offer!

You're not overweight at all!Problem is,it's not muscle.Any good,basic weight training program should do.Hints:drink lots of water;it fills you up.Accept the fact that you may have a bit less energy while dieting.It descends to a certain level,then doesn't get any worse.As you lose fat&gain muscle,it will go up again.Stretching the abdominal area helps to release fat(trust me on this),ONWARDS!Good luck!g.
