What do you do with old muscle mags?

Every couple of years I clean out my closet and have to go through the painful process of throwing out a bunch of muscle mags. The problem is they just take up too much space. I already have a half-dozen boxes of bodybuilding VHS tapes, DVDs, books, and other photos. I take the stack of old mags, thumb through them one last time and rip out any particularly interesting articles or inspirational photos, and then throw out the rest.

Most of the information and images can be found out the net anyway, and although I still prefer a sharp 8.5x11 magazine photo over a downloaded jpg, I need to be practical about storage.

Here's the pile of magazines I had to get rid of.

Does anybody out there just keep them all?

Sell them on eBay or give them away

You could sell them on eBay. It would take some time, but you would be making a buck for something you're going to throw away otherwise. You could sell them in packs or individually.

Maybe donate them to Salvation Army or some similar group.

I've bought mags on eBay and found treasures at thrift stores many times.

Maybe even give them to your local doctor's office. It would be something interesting and different for patients to read. I do that a lot.

Four options I can think of off hand

1) Flog them on ebay
2) Donate them to a charity shop
3) Contribute them to a online archive of bodybuilding
4) Say "Does anyone want a muscle magazine, muscle video/DVD, or muscle photo?"

I'm not getting rid of any of the videos or photos; these are just the magazines. And these aren't rare, classic issues from 20 years ago; these are just the generic Flex, Ironman, etc from the past 2 years or so. Not worth the effort of finding new homes for them so I just threw them in dumpster. I know, it sounds cruel, but sometimes you just need to get rid of junk without worrying about finding it a new home.

As long as it was a recycling bin I don't think anyone will mind at all
