That was a capture from a video biography of Garret Walsh, who went on to become Mr. Canada of 1986. At last report (ca. 2004), Mr. Walsh was suffering from ALS, or "Lou Gehrig's disease," an incurable disorder which causes a "wasing away" of the muscles.

I had a friend back in the late 90's early 00's that died from ALS. He was probably in the best shape of any guy I knew. Not huge, like 6' 170# but ripped and always working out. He died less than a year after he was diagnost with the ALS. Really sad.

Besides the physique, what's amazing is that he poses with as much grace as Arnold in his prime. I've seen many adult competitors who don't have half the posing talent as this kid did.

Yeah I got that video "Body by Garret", it was alright but it was more of a documentary than a training vid. Which is fine, the title was just misleading, I thought it would be something useful to start some friends of mine with their kids into fitness, but it only had a few minutes of work-out at the most.

That was probably meant to be "a wasting away", to deteriorate, diminish, as if the body consumed itself, for example, in Africa AIDS is known as "the wasting disease".

So sad to hear of Garrett's fate. When I first saw a photo of him on a group site I thought, OMG what a cool dad this kid must have to help him pursue the dream of musclehood this far. Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the documentary "Body by Garrett"? Not listed on amazon.com.

My suggestion would be to search for it on eBay. If you don't find it, you can post a message in their "Want It Now" area.
