New Bravo reality series "Work Out" The BRAVO network is launching a 6-episode docu-drama about the professional and personal life of Jackie Warner who owns an elite gym in Beverly Hills. The show will feature the half-dozen personal trainers who work in the gym. Frankly it doesn't look very good to me. It just seems like we'll be watching a bunch of rich pretty people getting richer and prettier. But it's worth a look. I missed the first episode, but it's on Wednesdays at 11:00pm ET/PT. Has anyone seen it? http://www.bravotv.com/Work_Out/ |

I intend to catch it soon, but like all Bravo shows, I'm sure they'll repeat every episode a million times. It does look pretty bad, but so is most TV... This might have pretty people, so that's an improvement on most HGTV shows. __________________ God is in the rain. |

I just found out episode one is available on iTunes for free. |

It's all about Doug. The guys are hot and even some of the girls are pretty (If the abs don't weird you out) but Doug makes me say 'woof.' Brian is a close second. |

I thought the first episode was really boring. Doug (if I remember correctly) seems rather homophobic toward Jesse. Then there's the whole "the the lesbian to a stripper bar" thing that went on. __________________ http://www.scott-safier.us "Stand firm for what you believe in until or unless logic or experience prove you wrong. yeah, that was sort of my impression too. a couple of nice-looking bodies, but i can't stand how shallow and dramatic everyone seemed. whatever, I'll stick to my Project Runway, thank you! speaking of PR, anyone else think that Robert Best is sort of cute? he had that sleeveless shirt on episode 2 that looked real good. |
| |||
Really really sad how shallow, selfish, and simple the "stars" of "reality" shows are. I want to just grab them by the throat and toss them over a cliff to prevent them from breeding. |
| |||
Robert Best is a hunk too! Yeah, he makes Barbie doll dresses but he's got some serious meat on his bones! And Tim Gunn is really sexy to me which is weird. He's obviously gay (usually a turn off) but he's not a sissy. Yes he's not super butch either. It's like he's found this whole other way to be masculine and gay without caving into the stereotypes of either. Maybe it's just me but he does it for me. This PR seems to boast a really diverse cast and, best of all, they cut out the 'villain', that vampire wannabe Malan on the second episode! (The man was a walking fashion stereotype and had no business on that show.). But that's a whole other thread. |
| |||
we really should just make a Project Runway thread...I feel so bad and guilty about liking that show, but I can't help it! Malan was actually sort of growing on me with that greasy, nasty hair and creepy-ass laugh, but his dress sucked, so...get outta here. Tim's awesome, but I'm not attracted to him at all. I just love how he doesn't take shit from anyone, and he knows how to speak his mind and be truthful, but still be tactful. and his two famous catchphrases are great. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks Robert is hot. It's just awesome for me to finally have someone hot on that show. |

Wasn't too impressed with the whole Workout show. It just seemed, uh... boring? I dunno, I guess it's a hit/miss thing with Bravo. And unfortunetly when they have a hit they tend to run it into the ground (like Queer Eye). I think the reason BlowOut was able to survive the first season was Brandon in the first few eps and then the opening of the shop on Rodeo. Brandon was just "over the top" and that kept people watching. Then for the second season you had "stressed out" Jonathon over the product line. However season 3 went sorta flat IMHO. We went from before/after haircuts to daily life... Queer Eye's formula worked... until everyone started to saturate the market (esp. Bravo with the "Straight Gal" version). Add on to that the fact that Bravo essentially became the "Queer Eye Channel" for a few months, people just got sick of it, just like Trading Spaces. Kathy Griffin's show was so so. It survives partly, in my opinion, because her life is so "d-list" and that's humorous (and even she realizes it). Is it enough to keep my attention? Not really, but I'll watch if there is nothing else on and I'm really really bored. Project Runway : InstaHit. You've got the drama, you've got the runway, you've got all you need for a show to keep your interest. Will it last a hundred seasons? Not likely, but it will be around for a while longer (as long as they keep finding wacky, yet talented designers). It's the new batch of designers that make each season interesting. You don't get that with QE, KG, or BO. And I think that's what keeps it in focus. And I hope Robert sticks around to the end! As far as workout goes... if it doesn't change it's tone soon I can't see it coming back for a second season. The drama is almost non-existant.. it's about as boring as the common office. Woohoo.. they went to a strip club. Woohoo.. guy might get fired the first ep.. oh my. You have to connect with someone on the show to want to watch the show... and that's what is seems to be missing. I can't really care for people so caught up in themselves. Maybe as the show continues their own personallities will emerge and I'll warm up to it... but at this point, that's not very likely. __________________ In a world of old memories... 2) Changing Rooms never became dull. Whenver a BBC show is american-ized, as in trading spaces, it is never as good. Trinny and Suzanne are goddesses in What Not To Wear (and they're leaving!), and the american version just plane sucked. Quote:

The designers this season are exceptionally good too. (*) and I got to call a beefy muscle boy who can pound my face into the ground Mary -- how perfect is that. Now, just take back that thing you said about Kathy Griffin's show and we're in total agreement __________________ http://www.scott-safier.us "Stand firm for what you believe in until or unless logic or experience prove you wrong. I don't think I could stant the Workout series. 3% bodyfat...97% snore. Project runway? I'm an avid watcher. Robert Best definately has some guns.. |

Runway works not because of the gay factor but because its the only talent competition show where we see real people doing real work and getting real criticism for it. They've also done a great thing for this third run by going back to the original rules, thus eliminating unnecessary drama to focus on the real, natural drama. As for the gay factor itself, Project Runway is great just because it features lots of gay men (and probably one or two lesbians I imagine) who are gay and happy and maybe even a little stereotypical but most definitely real. This is probably the most positive gay interest program on American television. |

Queer Eye.... ...lost its way when it switched from being a"design/tips"show to being a"gay philanthropy"show.Now,a bunch of very talented queens show up with a moving van full of free stuff.Not very applicable to anyone's daily life. |

omg, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sings along with the casting special from season 2 of project runway. or Santino doing robo-Tim Gunn and then exploding. I've got it on my ipod, and whenever I'm in a bad mood, I can just watch Nick and Santino sing about Daniel Franco (where did ya go-oh) or watch Andrae be, well, Andrae. and yes, this season 3 cast is great...entertaining, talented, some good favorites and underdogs, and plenty of wackos, airheads, and assholes to root against. I'm going to go read Tim's blog now, thanks for reminding me! =) |
