Red Stripe Beer commercial w/ bodybuilder Caught this last night: The commercial features this huge guy working out, and when he starts posing in full view, we see that his upper body is considerably larger than his legs. Then the Red Stripe guy does his "Hooray Beer!" thing, saying "Enjoy Red Stripe beer and upper-body workouts in moderation." Humorous, says I! |

Another fine example of advertising targeting "the return of masculinity." Everything is all about being a "guy" nowadays so why does it all make me want to castrate myself? (no offense to you, MGN) |
| |||
i just find it obnoxious...kind of makes me glad to be gay actually, I can kind of just say, "well, i don't necessarily feel obligated to be super-manly if i don't want to...I have a good excuse!" =) I'll have to look for that red stripe commercial though, i always like those. |

Other commercial: Hummer Anyone else notice that the Hummer commercial (guy loading tofu and veggies onto the grocery checkout sees next guy loading beef and other "manly" food, so first guy goes out and gets a Hummer) changed the tag line from "restore your masculinity" to "restore the balance". Not that I'd ever be the target audience for Hummer ads, but I'm glad they rethought the concept. Cheers, Divis24 |

Just saw it myself. I didn't even notice the skinny legs the first time I saw the commercial; it goes by so quickly and I was too busy looking at the upper bod I guess.
