growth with an extremely fast metabolism

the title says it all. i have an extremely high metabolism rate. i eat and eat and havn't gained weight (plus/minus a couple pounds) in the past 3 years. i was a swimmer for 2 years in school, i have some definition, but i want to get bigger. Right now i've been out of the pool for about 1 year, but keeping up with some weights- the basics. comments? suggestions?

i guess it's ironic that many overweight people wish to be thinner, and many thinner people wish to be bigger. i read somewhere that there are different types of body types (genetically) which allow the process of gaining/losing weight to go much smoother.

again... suggestions?

you don't say how old you are....

Up until age 25,you're stil growing.Although you don't get taller,your bones continue to thicken.Metabolic rate starts to slow after 25.If you're over 25 & can't gain,try the beer & banana diet.2 beers(ideally,ones without chemicals)& 1 banana before bed.Work out,of course!If this wouldn't work for you;there are alternatives....

As someone who can attest to having the metabolism of a hummingbird (at one time anyway), keep your workouts short and simple. Full body workouts 2, no more than 3 times a week. Squat or Leg Press (squat's preferable), stiff leg deadlift, incline bench, pulldown or chin, row, shoulder press, bicep curl, and tricep pushdown should be enough. 1-2 sets max, with one warmup set at say 60% of your work weight.

Again, you don't mention your age.

I recommend one of JM Blakely's articles on gaining weight. You've got to eat, and eat, and eat.

Also, as mentioned before, age is a factor. At eighteen, I don't think I could have put on weight if my life depended on it. At 30, it's now possible, although it takes work. Eating becomes a chore, but it does have results. I've gone from 230 to 246; about 5 of that is fat. But I'm working on it...
