I'd say post these in the photo and images section.

Probably some of the better superman edits I've seen, though I've always thought eye-edits were creepy.

I can't believe out of the millions of people in this country, that there isn't a muscle guy who can act. It would be so nice to see a superhero movie where the guy actually looked the part. C'mon Hollywood, the comic book heros have muscles. Yours should too.

As an actor, I have pretty strong opinions on why the mix of muscle and acting ability that you crave is non-existent. IMHO the two poles are truly in opposition: exceptional performances require a suppleness and physical openness that dozens of pounds of armour simply do not afford. Great actors show us the human condition by suffering it on our behalf; muscleheads build muscle so they don't have to show that they, too, suffer the human condition.

Massive guys who look great in superhero costumes DO exist, of course: they just can't act. I wish it weren't true.

Now that I've opened THAT can o' worms (and co-hijacked the thread), let the flames leap up!

Iirc,...

I seem to remember a picture, likely morphed, of a massively muscular superman that would fit this profile. He was halfway through a barbell curl in the shot and, on the back wall over his shoulder, is the crest of the U.S. Marine Corps. Superman's shield looks to be tattooed or airbrushed onto his torso, or so I remember.

Hey VR Goh, you should search "superman works it out". I am confident you'll find the picture there, it's so hot as well, it was the inspiration to the story "the new supermen".

Even if there were huge bodybuilders who were also good actors, they would never cast them. They wouldn't want to deal with the issue of steroids (despite the fact half the actors in the movie business use them.) Imagine the backlash: "How dare they set-up a drug freak as an idol for my babies!" Plus, let's face it, most of the public find massive muscle repulsive, and movies are all about making money.

With Chris Hemsworth swelling up amazingly for the new Thor movie, I think we have a very good chance of seeing a Superman who has both a buff body and real acting skills. But, if it comes down between one or the other, I'll always choose the good actor even if he's skinny. I'd still love to see Jon Hamm play Supes and he's pretty lanky.

Actually, since Jon Hamm is the living embodiment of sex, he doesn't have to beef up (I wouldn't be able to take it if he got big muscles) or even take his shirt off to get me going.

Off topic now. Sorry. I'm gonna go beat off to Superman photo manips and Don Draper slash fiction. Bye!
