Action figures- Society's secret muscle fantasy?

This has always been on my mind, but aren't action figures society's muscle-bound wet dream? I mean the figure (if it's a male) has biceps that in real size would make any BB'er give his soul for the same size. Now obviously they're never in proportion of course. Always purely upper body, and a lower body only large enough to seem real. What is ya'll's thoughts on this?

Fairly recent phenomenon -- I think the book 'Adonis Complex' did a couple of comparisons of GI Joes (from the 70's through 90's) as well as the original Luke Skywalker compared to the updated version for re-release of the films.

I remeber in a sociology course I took in Highs chool we looked at G.I. Joes and Barbies put to real proportionsa and the fact of the matter is they would not have the right bone structure to support themselves.

GI Joes!?!
Who the hell would want to play with them when He-Man Master of The Universe was around. Such a Hunk and such a good boy as prince Adam. That's the action figure I played with as a kid .

There was a muscled Luke Skywalker??? (action figure of course)

Now that is something I would like to see.

The original Ralph McQuarrie poster art gave Luke more pectoral definition than he deserved, though. And that was 1977.

As for the Luke Skywalker doll--er--ACTION FIGURE I don't think it's muscular desires so much as it is something even stronger in men: laziness. They probably took the mold from some other toy.
