leolo (1992) movie Canadian muscleman Yves Montmarquette plays Fernand. He has built himself up from a scrawny kid into a massive muscleman (just like the ads in the comic books) but he finds out he's still no match for the local bully. ( Leolo, 1992) here is the link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZpVvMbvqZo Here?s a couple of pics of the video http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h6...e/fernand2.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h6...e/fernand1.jpg Somebody have a other pics of him please post !!!! |

I remember watching that film many years ago! The scenes with the muscled guy totally erotized me... It's a pretty freaky film, the kid masturbates with meat and has a crazy sister... I wonder if the director is gay... muta |

Good movie overall Well, I liked it. Unfortunately, I believe the director died in a plane crash a few years ago. I wonder what happened to the muscleman? Cheers, --RI |

That video clip is also in the muscle bully thread. Check it out. |

I recently saw the movie on DVD. It's a good movie - a little strange at times and the humor is very dark, but great. Oh, yeah, and there is a big, muscular guy throughout. In every scene he's in, he's either lifting weights or eating or both and he's always wearing the same wife-beater. And then, there's the scene where he's wearing nothing but that wife-beater and tighty-whities. His legs are huge as he tramples down the hall. Pretty comical...and hot! |

Leolo Clip Here are a another clip from leolo movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OqC7ELoRrM what you think about it |

I saw this film in the theatres back in the early 90s when it came out - thank god for Canadian art cinemas - and found Lauzon's depiction of bodybuilding to be remarkably beautiful, erotic, and sad at the same time. The "transformation" sequence when the young kid starts lifting is wonderful. And while the bully scene makes a rather simple point - "muscles don't make the man" - there is something really intense about the figure of a guy like Yves Marquette curled up, crying, in a foetal position... It's an image that stayed with me for years... - J. __________________ 6'3", 225#, growth-oriented lifter. I like that out of all the kids he's the most normal and the best with money. |

I just got the movie tonight and will be going through to check out the muscle scenes before watching the whole thing. |

Watched the movie. I got this from Netflix. I see Yachirobi is going to review this too, but I thought it was pretty much another (sorry!) "French movie I don't get". I've seen a few, and truthfully, this is a story about a young man quietly losing his mind before he's 16. Oh, the scenes with his muscleheaded brother are somewhat interesting (and for people on this board, hot) but overall the movie isn't exactly great. Cinema fans may have more to say. I can't pretend to be an "art film" critic. And, just for the record, V for Vendetta was my most recent "favorite movie". Best to all, R |

Wait, so the muscleguy isn't the main character? |
| |||
No, he's the brother of the main character. He appears for a few sequences. |

I finally sat down and watched Leolo last night. My total opinion? What the fuck were they thinking? The fact that this is a French-Canadian film can't be used as an excuse for this rambling, unfocused, and disturbing piece of work. There was no solid plot, many moments in the film were there for no reason, and some things in this movie were just bizarre. It was like some of the non-sequitur comedy that's popular right now except that it wasn't funny. What was disturbing? Let's see... Meat masturbation? Incestuous fat fetishes? Attemped murders of grampa in the bath tub? Insemination by falling on tomatoes that someone jacked off on? Maybe if there had been an actual plot this would have worked but instead its just weird. While I can somewhat understand why the film was constructed this way I think they should have changed their approach. Especially since there's no explanation given for the fate of the title character. In other words: Leolo is lousy...but what about his brother? Okay, here's where the movie shines. Leolo's musclebound brother, Fernand, played by mystery hunk Yves Montmarquette, has his own subplot. Amazingly, it makes much more sense although it seems to get too much focus in the whole of the film. Indeed, Fernand is the most well adjusted of his family. Granted, he's sometimes mean to his little brother and I assume that the filmmakers don't necessarily have a positive view of bodybuilding to have established this trait for Fernand, but he comes across as a relatively normal guy. Having seen the whole film makes the scene where he gets beaten up by the bully even more crushing. Hot body aside, Fernand is the most relatable character in the film and his defeat hit me at my core. And it was nice to see that Leolo still stood by his brother and understood why Fernand's defeat occured. My wish? That, instead of making a movie about Leolo, they had made a movie about Fernand. I can even see them cutting away all the rest of the film to make a short just about Leolo reminiscing about his brother. This has nothing to do with the body, just so you know, but all to do with the character. As for the muscle parts themselves, they are indeed hot but we never see Fernand with his shirt off or getting any action. Then again, I didn't need to see that. My disappointment at this is shallow and is nothing compared to my overall disappointment with this confused and unfocused piece of filmmaking. |
