karateboy310's going at it Hey, my names Kevin im 15 and so close to your proverbialy 95lb weekling its not even funny. I'm getting into lifting and bodybuilding but I last for like a week before giving up, I find I last longer with people bugging the shit out of me to go for it and never give up, which is why I joined here. I only have free weights thanks to a lack of a job and my parents think I should have my nose in a book 24/7 but any help would be appricated and here are my current stats Hight: 5'5" Weight: 116lbs Arm: 10 1/4 in Waist: 29in Chest 32.5in Quad: 17 3/4in Calves:13in and of course a pick of me attempting to flex a non-existant muscle http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e3...y310/me001.jpg |

oro? You do realize this board is 18+ only, right? Best advice is to keep working at it. |
| |||
I hope you know what this board is about. Anyways, the best advice I can give you is to keep at it. Read, learn and understand how your body works. The more you learn, the easier it will be to grow. If you do not do your research and just go at it blind, not only will you not find results, you won't want to stick with it and you risk injuring yourself. Learn proper training, learn how and what to eat and go out there and do it. If you want to change bad enough then you need to learn to push yourself. If that is an issue, get a workout buddy that you can drag each other to the gym and help each other stay motivated. If you have any questions, feel free to ask Good luck |

2. Definately a good thing to learn how the body works, specifically his. 3. He's going thru\already gone thru puberty, so his body is definately changing. 4. Glad he was honest about his age. |

Kevin, I think you're doing just fine for 15. So many teenager guys spend their time looking around at other teens (football players, wrestling jocks, etc...) and wish they had that body and that genetics. Everyone grows differently and at different rates. It could very well be likely that your *ahem* unique "equipment" is far superior to theirs. "only having" free weights is also not a huge disadvantage. I've met a few guys who got incredibly buff with just a bench and dumbells and some incredible dedication. The advice everyone gave above is excellent as well. The key: keep at it, don't give up, don't try so hard that you hurt yourself... and most of all... try your hardest to quit worrying about where everyone else is at physically. If you do that, particularly as you have a few years left of massive puberty testosterone-enhanced growth done naturally... you'll be huge before you even realize it. Man... I wish I'd started when I was 15. P.S. 5'5" is a GREAT height for looking really thick. Short buff guys are incredibly dangerous to us tall guys, leverage and center of gravity advantages, etc... We (tall guys) just don't like to admit it. At 15 there's also a good chance you'll gain another few inches too. |
| |||
A few inches in what? *winks* Getting serious now, Ethernet was truthful on everything, *sighs* wish I had started when I was 15, would have had some serious size perhaps by now. All I would have had was a Boxflex and dedication. Well, I guess that's all I got for now. |

ether's right! LOTS of bodybuilders with full gym memberships hardly use machines at all! The main area where machines come in handy is BACK WORK! Be smart & focussed about that & you shouldn't have any problem. |
| |||
so true Glam... the biggest guys I know stick only to the free weights except when it comes to back isolation and then they generally like those hammer strength machines and stuff which are basically just fancy free weights. The gym I used to go to had the entire natilus/circuit training area partially separated from the free weight area. Inside the free weight area was all the squat racks, benches, etc... *and* the hammer strength machines. They definitely knew which crowd went where. Now-a-days I only have my bowflex, a bench, a couple barbells, a couple dumbbells, my kick bag and a (too light) heavy/punch bag....and you know? I've gained more muscle more efficiently since I started working out at home than I ever did in the gym. |
| |||
Common guys lets teach the very right things to the kid so he can transform his body! and have a really online growth! |
| |||
you still alive? keeping to your workout schedule? It takes motivation, just because you don't see results immediately doesn't mean it isn't working, you must keep consistent and eat like you haven't eaten in a week, everyday. |

Well you guys asked so here it goes, not much progress had some going for a while but with the week long power outage with bailing water that went down the tubes, I hate snow storms oh well, life goes on, I'll keep you all informed |
| |||
KB - sometimes a short break builds more muscle than all the working out you could ever do. Plus - isn't "bailing water" incredibly awesome for your back, shoulders, and arms? Don't be discouraged... we all have setbacks... I've had quite a few... injuries, sickness, kids, etc... |
| |||
And then there's the big setback Ethernet. Marriage. Ah hehehe, don't worry about that one for awhile Karatebutt..err boy. |
| |||
hahahaa.... marriage was a huge setback for me in terms of martial arts... I had to quit fighting the circuit and get a real job. Other than that, it's been pretty damn good for me these last 10 years. |
| |||
Shit! *sighs* So much for a "Fight Club" redo. |
| |||
LOL... I think I could take Brad Pitt, don't you? He may be buff-ish but he's too much of a pretty boy. |
| |||
Ok so it's been awile since i posted here so here it goes: I don't think i look any different and haven't noticed a change in size but I can do more push ups, and situps now, since with dissapproving parents and thus no access to weights thats about all i can do, Measurments and new pics coming sometime this week. |

keep hangin' in there kid... That's pretty tough that your parents actually *dis*approve of a weight training concept for you. Is it that they think it's a "fad" in your life and that they'll waste the money on the equipment? What's their deal? Maybe you can explain it differently... if you have good parents that love you... maybe they're concerned that you're lifting for the wrong reasons. You're 15 (maybe 16 by now?) so you're in high school... doesn't your school have a gym? Mine did, and it wasn't the greatest... and I never used it because I was *totally* not into that at that age.... but it would certainly be better than nothing. Many schools even offer a class in "how" to train properly or if you tried to join the wrestling them then they'd certainly stick you in there as well. Just random ideas... If your parents object to the cost of equipment... sign-up for the YMCA for 6 months and prove to them that you're dedicated. Regardless, those links from omeliss... should be helpful for home workouts and anything you do is better than nothing (even if it is just push-ups). Find something for pull-ups too... a rafter in the basement or the garage that you can wrap a towel or some cardboard around. I've heard such things as guys actually having fair success with gallon milk containers filled with water and/or sand, etc... as well. --- Good luck kid, hang in there, and keep workin' hard! As you get into your later teens you'll get that surging testosterone assistance and even the most modest of workout will help you build muscle with that as well. |

(as well as A, I, and U) said is too use some simple stuff, forget all that high tech crap and use the basics, actual items! P.S. I know you could take Brad Spit on easy, but could you take ME, Eth.? __________________ In the MGS FC's I am Psycho Mantis! I dunno bro.... You know I love a good fight. I haven't seen any pics of you in a while... you might be able to outrageously whip my married, old (turning 30 in a few days), fat ass.... but I'd give it a go anyway. |
| |||
No pics of me, that's cuz I don't wanna take no pics of my skinny (compared to you ) ass. Well Eth since we're getting MAJORLY off topic, perhaps you or myself could PM the other so we can continue without spammin up KB's thread even more? __________________ In the MGS FC's I am Psycho Mantis! Well thought i'd update this. Still only really doing pushups and situps no real weights don't have access to them but next year i'm off to college so I'll be able to start an actual workout rutine there. I'm 17 now, pretty much the same stats with a little more definition. I would love any advice you all could give and any one to remind me to get my ass in gear. Thanks. |
