I voted

I voted Republican. I feel it's the better option economically. Democrats will take the house, yes. Republicans will retain their plurality in the Senate or at least have Cheney's vote as President of the Senate...

It's not going to be quite as bad for the Republicans as some are making it out to be.

Angry I fear you're right...

...you brain-damaged twit! Keeping the rabble roused will cost us liberty, allies & earn the enmity of much of the world. The republican party is a coalition of the greedy & the stupid. The greedy can't control the forces of stupidity they have unleashed. Be afraid.

In every recent election including this one, I've gone right down the Democratic column. Fwiw, at least to me, it says to Bush and the Republicans "I don't like you".

You are fucking STUPID! The economy always does better with Democrats, and the Republicans (Grand Old Pedophiles) always go into multi-dip recessions. The "economy" argument for the GOP simply does NOT work!

"Fucking stupid"?

"Brain-damaged twit"?

Personally, I have always liked the fact that people are allowed to disagree and take different perspectives on matters in this forum without the discussion degenerating into mudslinging or verbal violence. That's held true on matters ranging from racial relations through gay/bi issues and all the way to religion.

Apparently, though, that is over.

And, if people see the need to use this forum to abuse other people who don't hold the same political beliefs as they do, I certainly see no need to interrupt it with my contributions or stories.

Please don't leave..PLEASE!

I think fhe vehemence can be attributed to a condition known as ECTO (Election-Connected Testosterone Overload), an understandable rush at the prospect of a positive election result after a 10 year drought.

WBHunk, I have thought of you as a friend for a long while now. It would be sad if you leave this site, over a couple of juvenile reactions to a troll's silly little post. However, I have never apologized for being gay, a liberal, or for thinking critically, and a NEVER will. I'd rather leave.

I don't expect you to apologize for being gay, a liberal, or thinking critically.

But I also don't believe that being any of those gives one license to be hateful towards someone who disagrees with them. Given that Minotaur was able to respond without being verbally abusive, it should be obvious that being gay, liberal, and opinionated does not require that.

But if you must insist that asking you to rethink your behavior is asking you to "apologize for" your sexual orientation, political affiliation, and opinions, so be it.

And if that is the case, I will be leaving.

I do consider you a friend and value that fact, brent. But I also refuse to be affiliated or associated with behavior like you just exhibited.

All this over random posts on an internet message board mainly devoted to a deliciously weird fetish. Good lord...

Brent: You're an adult and you know better. That wasn't called for. At the very least put such stuff in a private message.

wbhunk: You're leaving over the comments of one person who isn't in charge of the message board?

'Kay. Bye.

I can't and won't speak for everyone but I'm reading the posts of the both of you and laughing despite the sore feeling that comes from reading through this.

You two can do better.

So. This is what we become over one election. I voted half and half, those who I believed were the best choices. Yes I wanted democrats to win, but if we are extreme in either one (Dems or Repubs) then we have problems...then again, having equal amounts may cause problems as well.

Damn.

I have this weird fantasy about replacing all the Republicans and the Democrats with a big bunch of Progressives, a handfull of Libertarians, one or two Socialisits, and some likeable nutjob for fun. We need to find a way to make these so called third party candidates more viable to really liberate this country.

People who talk about third party candidates don't understand our political system. we are not a parliamentary democracy. In our system, whoever gets a majority of votes elects the leadership of congress. That leadership controls the agenda and appoints the committees. Third party agendas get swept under the rug simply because they are never the majority. Instead, viable ideas from third parties get incorporated into the two big parties -- libertarian party economic ideas subsumed into the republican party being the most recent change.

Here in my corner of PA, voter turnout was at Presidential-election levels (meaning very heavy). Voters were visibly angry and turned out to vote to get rid of an ideologue whose views were massively out-of-step with the state he supposedly represented. Many, upon exiting the poll, expressed a giddiness at having finally showed their disapproval for the behavior of Mr. Santorum. The NYTimes has a voter graphic of how PA voted in the senate race compared with 2004. Counties that have been leaning Republican for a decade this time voted Democrat. Four out of five democrat targets for congress flipped from R to D with the help of the DNC's (not the DCCC) 50 state plan.

I don't think this voter anger was unique to PA. I think it happened in Virginia, Missouri, Montana, Ohio and the other states that swung.

For those that think both parties are the same, here's a forecast. Expect the next congress to pass ENDA instead of voting on "the marriage amendment." And, gentle reader, if you think being protected from job related discrimination is the same as having your familial relationships denegraded and belittled, then you'll never understand the difference between blue and red.

(personal note: I'm expecting a job offer from a big company with an office in Chelsea in a couple of weeks, so will be moving to NYC about the first of the year)

Talking Big co. with an office in Chelsea?

hmmmm. Did the big office just open? If it works out; I think you picked the perfect year to come here. I predict the city will hit some kind of a "peak" in mid-spring. Then it's just a matter of sustaining it! & MANY THANKS to ANY & ALL Pennsylvanians for kicking santorum's ass! You did the whole nation a great service!

Yes. They relocated their office from Times Square.

It was an interesting election in that the polls remained the same for 18 months. That means people had made up their minds early that they didn't like Santorum and NOTHING he did could change that. Worse for him, he actually caused people to HATE him which means they came to vote just to vote him out. In lots of elections, people become apathetic and don't vote, but the one thing that overcomes apathy is utter contempt for the incumbant.

Santorum is dead politically. I doubt even Checkers could make people like him again.

People didn't vote against him because of Dan Savage. They voted against him because he's a right-wing zealot who turned off his electorate.

Well, I myself voted Republican, not because I like Sonny Perdue (GA) but because I hated Mark Taylor even more, although the more was marginal. It still made a difference though.

Really, I only vote republican on family tradition. If I break it, they'll surely take away my income (which they graciously take care of).

in all honesty, I hate politics with all my heart. It's a dirty game for dirty, greedy people. If I had my way about it, I'd vote libertarian every time, but I need money so I guess sonny it is....

We car pool, right, and we all vote in a block, my grandfather right next to me to make sure that i'm voting correctly.
It sucks.

Besides, i know when to lie and when to be honest.
Lie constantly and you'll never have the chance to be honest.

The fact that you let it continue is what sucks. Grow a backbone or move to some third world country that only pretends to have elections.
