"Good things don't happen by coincidence. Every dream carries with it certain risks, especially the risk of failure. But I am not stopped by risks. Suppose a great person takes the risk and fails. Then the person must try again. You cannot fail forever. If you try ten times, you have a better chance of making it on the eleventh try than if you didn't try at all." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

"A person is a product of his own thoughts. Believe big and grow big."- David Schwartz

"We must train from the inside out. Using our strengths to attack and nullify any weaknesses. It's not about denying a weakness may exist but about denying its right to persist." - Vince McConnell

"Try and fail is the manner of losers; try and learn is the way of the strong." - Unknown

"Obsessed is just a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated." - Unknown

"The greatest oak was once a little nut who held its ground" - Unknown

"Strength does not come from winning._ Your struggles develop your strengths._ When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired and success achieved. " - Helen Keller

"Experiencing this pain in my muscles and aching and going on and on is my challenge. The last three or four reps is what makes the muscles grow. This area of pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion. That's what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they'll go through the pain no matter what happens. I have no fear of fainting. I do squats until I fall over and pass out. So what? It's not going to kill me. I wake up five minutes later and I'm OK. A lot of other athletes are afraid of this. So they don't pass out. They don't go on." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

"Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent." - Marilyn vos Savant

"The act of taking the first step is what separates the winners from the losers." - Brian Tracy

"Do not wait; the time will never be 'just right.' Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along." - Napoleon Hill

"We all have great inner power. The power is self-faith. There's really an attitude to winning. You have to see yourself winning before you win. And you have to be hungry. You have to want to conquer." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

"Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes."- Chinese Proverb

"Things do not change. We change." - Henry David Thoreau

"Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret!" - Unknown

"There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. Don't allow yourself to become one of them." - Ralph Marston

"The highest reward for a person's toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it." - John Ruskin

"Success must be felt within before it can be seen on the outside." - Unknown

"Pain is weakness leaving the body." - Unknown

And one I'm particularly fond of...

"Pain makes me grow. Growing is what i want. Therefore for me, pain is pleasure. And so when I experience pain I'm in heaven..." - Arnold Schwarzennegger

In the quotes for life category, having nothing at all to do with weight training, my favorites in the whole world are:

1.) "Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security, will not have, nor do they deserve, either one."

- Thomas Jeffson (originally) then re-told I think by Rosevelt and maybe even Nixon.

G. W. B. is learning a lesson in this right now at the expense of all of us.

2.) My second favorite quote is actually a poem written by a very intelligent syndicated cartoonist that pretty much reflects the essence of my walk through life. When you find out who this is who wrote this, you'll be surprised:

I made a big decision a little while ago.
I don't remember what it was which prob'ly goes to show
That many times a simple choice can prove to be essential
Even though it often might appear inconsequential.

I must have been distracted when I left my home because
Left or right I'm sure I went. (I wonder which it was!)
Anyway, I never veered: I walked in that direction
Utterly absorbed, it seems, in quiet introspection.

For no reason I can think of, I've wandered far astray.
And that is how I got to where I find myself today.

-Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes)
