Near the end of the movie there was this HUGE guy that he had to wrestle. It was an awsome scene. (In more ways than one...) This was a great movie but who was this muscle giant?

Watching the movie right now. IMDB lists him as Nathan Jones from Australia. At 6' 10", yea he's a big 'un. Got that shaved from head to toe look going very nice. Not a big list of movies he's been in but one listed sounds interesting. Based on the comic strip Asterix and Obelix, "Asterix at the Olympic Games" where he plays a character called 'Humungus'. Type casting at it's best I'm sure. He's got a web site www.nathan-jones.com but it doesn't look like it's been updated in the last couple of years.

Nathan Jones has been popping up a lot as the "huge muscular dude" in movies. He was in Troy, the latest Tony Jaa movie (the mui thai boxing guy), and now Fearless. He had a brief stint in the WWE, but, uh, he can't act, so that didn't work. anyway, yeah, he's huge. =)

Ah, then I might have some disappointing news for you then.

That person getting pummelled on the right is Humugnus. And it's not the first time he gets pumelled as well as Asterix lands a wallop of a right hook on him when they first meet up as Romans.

Well he gets his butt kicked by Jet Li in Fearless but that doesn't mean it's not worth watching. In this Asterix film though Obelix is played by Gerard Depardeau. I could see Jet Li being able to take Nathan Jones down, but if Depardeau is able to do it, it's only because it's in the script.

I'm referring to the actual book (published in 1975). The order of pummelling is:

Asterix (the small one) when they arrive at the Roman gym
then that person (winning the laurel wreath)
and then Obelix (the big one) pummels the both of them when they ask him for his seat in the stands.

Picked up Tony Jaa's "The Protector" today and was really happy to see Nathan Jones turn up as a villian for a couple of spectacular fights. In "Fearless" you kind of get the idea that Jones is taller than Li. But a lot of the shots seem forced to exadurate the difference. In "The Protector" it's David and Goliath time. I think the reason it works so much better here is that for most of the movie Jaa is fighting guys around his height and build, then Jones shows up, it's just insane how he towers over Jaa. Looks like a good foot and a half taller and at least twice as wide at the shoulders. And if you haven't seen this or Jaa's first staring vehicle "Ong Bak" you're missing a action moive mega star in the making. No one has moves like Jaa.
