Muscular Bart in New Simpsons Episode

In one of the segments in tonight's Simpsons episode, "Revenge is a Dish Best Served Three Times," Bart relates a version of his alter-ego Bartman's origins spoofing the original Batman origin. Following the deaths of his parents, Bart is put through an old-timey exercise regimen by Grandpa, with impressive results. We're talking serious kid-muscle here. "I've got more muscles than a New England clam bake!" he boasts. And he spends the rest of the story in tights.

I doubt it'll be on again for quite some time, but it shouldn't be too long before a fan site has screenshots...

Nicely done! I just hope somebody posts the best scene: the end of the exercise montage, with a newly-buff Bart emerging from a steam tank shirtless and flexing a bit.

Very nice! I loved the headline:

"Muscular child terrorizes underworld!"

And that belt massager! Those were the days!

"Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach that man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime." Teach too many men how to fish, though, and youtube will change its ways to make everyone's life more difficult, so try not to spread this around too much, ok? It's nothing you can't figure out with a little persistence and I don't think they can close the hole completely, but still, it's better for everyone if they don't feel any pressure to try to make it more secure.

I can't promise I'll check for replies or offer any more help. My apologies for making this sort of tuned to those familiar with computers; hopefully one will step up and assist the rest in figuring out the process.

1. Go to the youtube page you want.
2. View its source code (the HTML; usually this is an option under the view menu)
3. Search for the phrase ".swf"
4. You should find a line that looks like this:

SWFObject("/player2.swf?video_id=JI2ieHmJ68s&l=302&t=OEgsToPDskICSfCDMFlDAroMn8RIxVun",

The part you are interested in is the part that comes after the ?, i.e. the part that begins with "video_id=". Select this, starting with video_id and ending at the closing quotation mark. (Don't include the quotation in your selection).

5. Copy the text you've selected to the clipboard (ctrl+c)
6. Go back to the original window, and type into the address bar:
http://www.youtube.com/get_video.php?
and then paste (ctrl+v) the string you copied. So, in this example, the full address would be:

http://www.youtube.com/get_video.php...lDAroMn8RIxVun

Do not expect this link to work for you; I think they change the t and l parameters such that you have to extract them from the source every time (to prevent people like me from distributing download links, I suppose. Back in the day all you had to pass to get_video.php was the video id.)

7. Hit enter and you should get a file download box. You should give the file an "flv" extension, sometimes the browser will default to this, sometimes not. Save it to disk, and you're done.

8. To view it, you'll need an flv viewer, I've found one called Riva FLV is decent enough, and I've heard that VLC player (or maybe it was media player classic) could play them in one of the latest versions. Search for "riva flv player" on google to find that one.

Sorry that the forum decided to make those actual links. Hopefully the status bar can show the text of the longer one.

You don't have to go through all that. I found another method on an earlier thread that worked fine.

Okay: I saved the clip from YouTube earlier this week. Today I figured out how to convert it into an MPEG, then discovered I have Windows Movie Maker. After some fooling around, I managed, for the first time ever, to make my own screenshots. Thus, shots from the shirtless Bart scene. (I like the third one best.)

Go me! I'm also working on making a clip of just the exercise montage and shirtless-Bart, but I still gotta figure out how to save it properly.
