League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Anyone see this movie -- what did you think of Jekyll/Hyde's musclegrowth transformation? Saw parts of it on a long flight on those tiny little video monitors -- looked interesting. |

The transformation was somewhat cartoonish. I thought he looked more like an orangutan than anything else. And the movie was, well, stupid. (And I have VERY low expectations when it comes to stuff in this genre!) rpj |

rpj, that was a wonderful, wonderful understatement Cartoonish, AT BEST. Gah. It was at best, a hideous, mutation of the human body. Ugly. Bulgy (he had a hunchback, I believe). Obnoxious. What was worse was when that german soldier guy chugged that MASSIVE vile of the transformation serum stuff. I nearly got interested/excited when that happened. He was even worse. As it turns out, people who have read the comics the movie was based on theorize that the serum just unlocks one's inner evil in the form of the TF'd monster that results (in the comics, jekyl gets progressively smaller and hyde bigger as jekyl begins to give into the evil and hyde b/ms more evil tho jekyl is still drinking the same amount). Thus the monster tends not to be too pleasant. Thus, the soldier doesn't so much become an 80 foot godzilla esque thing, but just a monster-that-is-bigger-than-hyde for a longer period of time. Summary: the theory suggests that maybe the amount of potion consumed doesn't affect size so much as how long the effects last. __________________ just my thoughts as a writer Things happen. |

Hmm That german soldier bit sounds interesting, I'd like to see some shots of that. |

That's because it SHOULD sound interesting In theory, that should have made the movie worthwhile. If you want to see it, go ahead, i'm not going to stop you because you have every right to see the movie if you so desire. However, I just like to add to what I was saying. I remembered some other reasons that scene was not up to par. one: when he's guzzling the serum/formula/whatever it's called, he just kinda holds the big flask above his face and really ends up pouring a minimum of 3/4 of it OVER his face and NOT into his mouth (in other words, the soldier was a let down...he COULD have, depending on how one decides that stuff works, become much bigger but the idiot just wasted most of the stuff) two: I forgot a little detail about his tf'd body. It kinda goes with what I was saying about the unbalanced aspect of it. Basically, although his upper body inflated to a hideously huge and bulgey mess (as opposed to huge [we all like huge, right?] and really muscular and hot body), his legs...well, they remained normal, untrained, ungrown, unmuscular size. It wasn't right, really. When I first saw the scene when he was chugging the stuff, I started to get really excited. Then when the showed him, I said "ewww." __________________ just my thoughts as a writer Things happen. |

I was looking around and there is a video (like "making of") for the character on the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... http://www.foxhome.com/lxg/ I haven't seen the movie, but it looks interesting. |
