Death of Rob Sager (Brett Mycles) Artuli Media (the MuscleHunks/MuscleGallery/MuscleWeb, etc. people) ran a short notice on another board just now indicating that Rob Sager (1977-2007) has died "of heart failure". No more information than that, other than an additional sentence to the effect that they had had the pleasure of working with him "during his flourishing years" and "would miss him as a friend". It's sad when anyone dies young, but in this case I'm stunned. No one ever seemed to exude a greater sense of sheer vitality and health than he did. Obviously there's more to the story--I just don't know what it is. |

Just found out for myself there is a link to say that he had passed away here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Mycles |

That's very sad news but it seems to go hand in hand with the sport, doesn't it? Another beautiful man dead at much too young an age. rpj |

In ths case, the most probable (as in statistical probability) explaination is drug abuse, but there may have been other factors. __________________ http://www.scott-safier.us "Stand firm for what you believe in until or unless logic or experience prove you wrong. As you will recall, my husband died (at age 30) of a massive cerebral hemorrhage resulting from a no-doubt congenital aneurysm of the inner carotid artery. So, yeah, there's no telling. For anyone. Any day. Has anyone seen an even semi-official posting? Deetrakt, do you recall where you saw that notice? I haven't found one yet. rpj |

We don't even know if he died of natural causes or committed suicide. (I think we can safely assume it wasn't a motor vehicle accident or a killing.) "Heart failure" is the classic way of saying nothing. I tend to think it was not connected to his bodybuilding. For one thing, he was never trying to be huge. It was that second sentence about "his flourishing years" that suggested to me that suicide or self-destructive behavior might be more likely. I did read somewhere that he always reported himself as bisexual but in the last several years had married his "high school sweetheart". It's got to be hard for a guy who's been a sex object for years trying to figure out who he really is and where he wants to go with his own life. There's something about this one that feels somehow sadder than Scott Klein or John Riggins or other guys who clearly had had problems for awhile and looked it. It's not rational, but I think what I'm finding hardest is reconciling a death at 29 with what seemed to be such a "sunny" persona. PS OOPS, Richard, we crossed postings. It was on the Bodybuilders Inc. EZBoard forum, but it consisted just of a black-framed photo, his dates and the two sentences I described. It's also on Wikipedia, which is where I found out he was 29, not 30 (ssuming Wikipedia's right). By now, it's probably cropping up all over. |

Wow. Sad. Though I find suicide over being gay hard to believe. The guy was a porn star and did gay porn. I doubt sexual preference was an issue with the guy. When I read this, my first thought was heart failure related to juicing. Its a risk many bodybuilders are willing to take, and sometimes it doesnt pay off in the end. Ashame at any rate. The guy was male perfection. |

It's extremely disturbing that so many people in the gay sex industry die so young. Even with AIDS being less of a factor (although still a very significant and dangerous one) there are too many things out there that are killing these men. Who knows (yet) what killed him but the lessons I've learned from other deaths like this are: 1. Never ever use illegal drugs. Never ever abuse prescription drugs, including steroids. 2. Practice safe sex--beyond making sure you and your partner are wearing condoms, practicing monogamy and avoiding one-night stands are good ideas. 3. Abstinence until marriage is actually a good thing. (Don't worry about the legalities of marriage. If you're partnered then you might as well be married in God's eyes.) 4. This is the most important: CHERISH YOUR OWN LIFE. Go for the things you really want and don't waste time on trivial things and the manipulations of others. You never know what can happen so don't take time for granted. |

Whether suicide or a reaction to steroid/muscle-enhancers, it is a shame, no matter what the cause. __________________ http://www.scott-safier.us "Stand firm for what you believe in until or unless logic or experience prove you wrong. They reverted the edits from Wikipedia because no citation was made, if the board is open or you know other web where the news are given it could be used as citation for the wiki. Can you give us a link? |

I can't believe it. Someone like him to die... it's irrational! And the worst thing is that now that it's dead I think about how kind of person he was or if he had friends or family. Before this I only thought about his great body. Does this make me a horrible person? |

It is very tragic to hear that he passed away. I often found Robert to very handsome and used him to be a guildline of what I would like to look if I tried hard enough. May peace be eternal for him now. As for everyone speculation of his death, why we must label things? This drives me insane. If he did drugs, he did drugs. The possiblity for health concerns are just as great for a cause. Strict diets to maintain the ripped look alone these models do have a huge toll on the body too. Gay, straight, bi??? Who knows and what difference does it make? Treat this tragic news as for what it is. Pay your respects and remember that when you go, how do you want to be remembered? People jumping at conclusions or having grief over the loss? Just a few thoughts, Tony |

thanks Yachirobi! You too are a good guy( for caring to tell me) I don't like to think wrong about people, so if they say it's a heart failure, maybe it was just that. Whenever i hear somebody dies (not for being old) I thank for being alive and for the people I care to be alive. I think I need a hug. *grabs his teddy-bear* Anyway i don't think we'll forget him. He was too... much. Last edited by chocomus; February 28th, 2007 at 03:31 PM. |

Hey guys. I found out about Rob's death through the musclecam.tv site where he was a frequent performer. They have a bullitin up on their site sending out their condolences to his family/friends. The notice was also posted on another EZBoard forum I visit too. What's very eriee for me is that I have a friend that I met through Yahoo a few months back who told me that just around 2 weeks ago he had met up with Rob for a one-on-one worship session and said that he was a truely phenominal guy both in body/looks, but in character and personality. He said it was one of the best nights he had had because Rob was such a caring and passionate guy. He also told me that he was talking to him about getting together sometime this week for another session and was completely devistated when I told him (not something I enjoy doing to say the least). What's shocking for me is that I vividly recall the first time I had ever seen a picture of Rob. He litteraly took my breath away. One of the first guys who I ever really fantasized about. And he's only a few years older then I am. It's truely subduing to put myself in that position. There are so many things I haven't done yet. Places I haven't seen, people I haven't met. It really hit home that when your time comes, the best you can hope for is that you've made an impact in life. I'm sure that I won't be the first, last, nor only person to say that Rob will be deeply missed. Not just for his incredible body and looks, but for his passion in life and how much he cared for those around him. May the angels give you wings so you can soar to the highest heavens to experiance true peace, love and happiness. |
