Coffee or Red Bull So this is the question. Coffee or Red Bull before training? Maybe it is better nothing? Ok. please put here your experiences or thoughts. __________________ Diego |

The regular Red Bull drink has 160 calories and 39 grams of sugar. As opposed to a cup of black coffee, which has no calories and no sugar. I'd go with the latter. xoxo Richard |

How about... ...neither. I don't work out, but I'd go with plain ole tea with nothing in it, over coffee or an energy drink anyday. __________________ In the MGS FC's I am Psycho Mantis! I don't know what the right answer would be--if I had to say anything I'd go with sugar free red bull. I feel that the energy boost is a bit "cleaner" feeling and while I tend to crash after the bull filters out, I feel like coffee gives me a rough headache and dehydrates me too much. But that's gut instinct, no actual knowledge, behind that opinion. I'd be interested to hear what someone more informed had to say. |

The right answer? COFFEE! Of course, I'm addicted and can't live without the stuff too so that might have a little bit to do with my answer. I tried to quit coffee once before - it wasn't pretty. Seriously though, I enjoy the rush that coffee gives me in the mornings before I workout. Get's me going! Dietitian says: neither. If you must, coffee. Richard was pretty much right on the money. And as for ZOMG!!! B Vitamins and Taurine? Just flashy words to get you to buy their product. If you want B Vitamins, have some fruit or grain products. |
| |||
The dichotomy that you are offering is like asking a nutritionist if its better to eat twinkies or shit sandwiches---neither coffee is ok but its not necessarily a good workout aid and redbull is loaded with chemicals and sugar so neither. |
| |||
I agree with Richard re sugar.. also, it feels to me that red bull 's caffeine is absorbed faster (having used it while working late into the night), but also gone faster, than coffee. So if you must have a stimulant, have coffee. Keep in mind that nost NO products have 4-5 times the caffeine (~200mg) than that of a cup of coffee (or redbull).. so I dont see any problem with having a cup pre WO. __________________ . Neither. Coffee is good for you as long as you don't load it down with sugar, but it's better to figure out what's missing from your diet to make you tired and worn down. Try taking 1-2g of vitamin E as well as a couple of fast release multi-vitamins (like Flintstones) an hour before you work out. Couple that with a banana and some sort of protein drink and a lot of water. You'll probably get a much better effect than either redbull (blah) or coffee are giving you. __________________ Quit jerking off and morph yourself for a change! |

Caffeine is a short-term solution to a long-term problem. Used occasionally, it will give you an energy boost. Long-term, your energy level goes right back to where it was, only now you need your daily fix to keep from getting sluggish. Don't overdo it, though, or you'll get nervous and hyperactive. http://www.cracked.com/article_18794...ad-person.html Ultimately, though, it's your life. Some people just enjoy being caffeinated. If that's you, enjoy in moderation, in whatever form you like. |

Red Bull all the way . But it depends on weather too . If there is freaking cold outside i would go for the coffee . But Re Bull is always my first preference . __________________ chino hills boot camp |

If you don't fill it up with sweeteners and creamers, coffee is zero calories and zero sugar. Overconsumption is an issue (it is with everything) but compared to most flavored drinks it is relatively benign. xoxo Richard |

I crash very hard after taking a red bull and am not a fan of that. I like my coffee but it's more of a relaxing thing for me (i know, odd), so I take neither in terms of pre-workout. I go with bettering the diet and supplements to give me the energy I need. |
| |||
For me personally coffee barely does anything. So Red Bull is really the only solution if I am looking for a drink to boost my energy. |
| |||
Eh, if you're that tired it may be pointing to another problem. Perhaps good sleep hygiene would help or better nutrition or perhaps you're working out too hard. If its not that you're so damn tired, then perhaps you're more addicticted the the elevation caused by caffeine. No big worries, so is the rest of the world, however, moderation is always key. I would say a couple of cups (1-2) in the morning to get you started is fine, but after that, I would recommend against it. If the only drink you take is before your workout well, that probably works better than throughout the day, but still, you're working out on an external lift. I have to agree w/ those who ultimately vote for nothing before the workout, but hell I don't work out AND I adore coffee. So, yeah. You could always do an experiment of 3 months w/ coffee, 3 months w/ Red Bull and 3 months w/ nothing to see how it works... __________________ Wow, I've never seen an arm that big! From my side I take coffee because Drinking coffee with meals that contain nonheme iron can inhibit absorption of the iron. Increasing your intake of decaffeinated coffee might reduce cardiovascular disease mortality. |

I think coffee is always batter for all person. __________________ Deer antler velvet |

Both! Mix them! I swear, you can see sounds and hear colors @_@ |

Coffee. But take it moderately. Too much caffeine will have adverse effects. As for Red Bull, it's a sugary drink with caffeine in it. Most diets are already high in sugar, so it's best to keep that low. |
| |||
I think your question was..."coffee or red bull BEFORE training" and that is what seems to have been missed "the before training" in most of the replies telling you to avoid the sugars etc.... I think there is some research out that says Red Bull is beneficial to athletic performance, due to its combination of caffeine, sugars , aminos etc.......so if you worry about sugar get the sugar free Red Bull and compare your energy levels to when you use coffee. |
| |||
one of the side affects of taurine which is in red bull is peptic ulsers i would suggest that neither be used since if your doing too much coffee or red bull you have adrenal fatigue and that whats needed to be fixed |
| |||
Well coffee is the one of my best favorite i always drink one cup after lunch. I like my coffee, but it's more of a relaxing thing for me (i know, odd), so i take neither in terms of pre-workout. I go, with increasing the eating plan and products to give me the power i need. __________________ Fitness San mateo |

I don?t think both would be fine. However red bull is considered as an energy drink. But it contains calories and could turn your workout benefits the other way around. |
| |||
Well I drink a lot of juice before training. Hmmm should try redbul one day and see what would be the out come of it during the training session. |

My cousin post me on Facebook on Red Bull. I post a portion of it here. This drink is SOLD in all the supermarkets IN OUR country and our children ARE CONSUMING IT ON A TRIAL BASIS. IT can be FATAL. RED BULL was created to stimulate the brains in people who are subjected to great physical force and in stress coma and never to be consumed like an innocent drink or soda pop. RED BULL IS the energizer DRINK that is commercialized world-wide with its slogan: "It increases endurance, awakens the concentration capacity and the speed of reaction, offers more energy and improves the mood. All this can be found in a can of RED BULL, the power drink of the millennium." RED BULL has managed to arrive in almost 100 countries worldwide. The RED BULL logo is targeted at young people and sportsmen, two attractive segments that have been captivated by the stimulus that the drink provides. It was created by Dietrich Mateschitz, an industrialist of Austrian origin who discovered the drink by chance. It happened during a business trip to Hong Kong , when he was working at a factory that manufactured toothbrushes. The liquid, based on a formula that contained caffeine and taurine, caused a rage in that country. Imagine the grand success of this drink in Europe where the product still did not exist, besides it was a superb opportunity to become an entrepreneur. BUT THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS DRINK IS ANOTHER THING FRANCE and DENMARK have just prohibited it as a cocktail of death, due to its vitamin components mixed with GLUCURONOLACTONE ' - a highly-dangerous chemical, which was developed by the United States Department of Defense during the sixties to stimulate the moral of the troops based in VIETNAM, which acted like a hallucinogenic drug that calmed the stress of the war. But their effects in the organism were so devastating, that it was discontinued, because of the high index of cases of migraines, cerebral tumors and diseases of the liver that was evident in the soldiers who consumed it. And in spite of it, in the can of RED BULL you can still find as one of its components: GLUCURONOLACTONE, categorized medically as a stimulant. But what it does not say on the can of RED BULL are the consequences of its consumption, and that has forced a series of WARNINGS... 1. It is dangerous to take it if you do not engage in physical exercise afterwards, since its energizing function accelerates the heart rate and can cause a sudden attack. 2. You run the risk of undergoing a cerebral hemorrhage, because RED BULL contains components that dilute the blood so that the heart utilizes less energy to pump the blood, and thus be able to deliver physical force with less effort being exerted. 3. It is prohibited to mix RED BULL with alcohol, because the mixture turns the drink into a " Deadly Bomb " that attacks the liver directly, causing the affected area never to regenerate anymore. 4. One of the main components of RED BULL is the B12 vitamin, used in medicine to recover patients who are in a coma ; from here the hypertension and the state of excitement which is experienced after taking it, as if you were in a drunken state. 5. The regular consumption of RED BULL triggers off symptoms in the form of a series of irreversible nervous and neuronal diseases. There you go. Treat it like a gun. |

I think both are good to drink before training but i prefer fresh fruit juice only. I drink fruit juice before every workout because it gives me energy and strength and helps during workout or any kind of training. __________________ St. Petersburg gym |

Not both, fresh fruit juice would be better than them. __________________ Rent office in Hong Kong at officespace. |

Natural is better Artificial ingredients and non-food vitamin sources can inhibit muscle growth. So coffee is better. __________________ Working out is erotic, once you really get into it. |

I do not drink neither before exercising. I usually drink water and fresh fruit juices because I know these are very healthy drinks. -Rosetta |

coffee is much batter then red bull.because i love to srink coffee in winter and watch the movies |
| |||
I prefer red bull before the training. |
| |||
I prefer Coffee..... I do coffee or tea 1.5hr-30min before a workout and organic chocolate milk and a banana after. Red Bull is artificial sugary crap and tastes like it. |
| |||
If you are someone who is involving with full time sports then red bull would be better than coffee. But for a normal person like me coffee would be appropriate. __________________ Valkee. |
