opera body Not sure how many of you are opera fans, or may have caught the Met's Magic Flute on PBS... but one of the leads in that production is Nathan Gunn and, if I say so myself....what a hunk! check out.... http://www.nathangunn.com/index.php |
| |||
God, I was going to watch it, but the news took first priority. oh well.... |
| |||
Man, I'd love to see that--even if he wasn't in it. When is he going to take a stab at Hollywood? I know it might dilute his opera career but I think he should appear in at least one movie. He's gorgeous and, being an opera star, he's an acomplished actor so he needs to try it. |

There are bodybuilders featured in "Anna Nicole" at BAM this season if you don't mind sitting through a few hours of a terrible trash-camp opera to see them. |

Opera hunks....in the chorus, I presume. Quote:
Here's a review of the new opera, "Anna Nicole" about Anna Nicole Smith. The production is at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. It does not say anything about the bodybuilders Stoneman mentioned, so I assume they are either men's chorus, or, more likely, supernumeraries (extras). The role of Howard Marshall, Anna Nicole's octogenarian wealthy husband, is played by Robert Brubaker. Mr. Brubaker has appeared at the Washington National Opera. Mdlftr |

If we're going for a whole opera muscle theme may I recommend this link: http://www.buzzfeed.com/mattortile/o...-you-right-now My personal favourite is Duncan Rock who often performs with the English National Opera. None of them are that big, but they are pleasantly more muscled than you typically see with that style of performer. __________________ Lifting is meditation for alpha males. Operatic Bodybuilders are really nothing new Here's the Esgee Entertainment's Mikado (from the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera of the same name) from 2008 In fact, being a bodybuilder helps you become a good singer (especially for volume), and if anyone should know it's our very own MuscleBaz __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

I saw the Washington National "Opera in the Outfield" this spring. They were doing "Showboat". I don't remember his name, but the baritone singing "Old Man River" was both auditorially and visually impressive! Tall (6'2" or 6'3"), broad shoulders, big chest and arms, small waist - he really brought presence to the role! |

The Covent Garden production of Salome featured a big buff bodybuilder completely naked as the executioner in the scene depicting the beheading of John the Baptist. It caused a lot of comment (and pictures in the newspapers) here in England. __________________ I was a stranger at my entrance into the world. |

I'd absolutely forgotten that. One of the better productions of Salome I've ever seen. __________________ Lifting is meditation for alpha males. Here he is.....from Show Boat Morris Robinson: http://www.kennedy-center.org/explor...&source_type=A An Atlanta native, he is a graduate of The Citadel and received his musical training from the Boston University Opera Institute. |

No body does it better.....[with full apologies to James Bond]... ....than the English (!!) for sexing things up!! Washington National Opera caused a stir because Salome's dance with the head of Johannon (John the Baptist) caused the whole stage to be covered with slippery, sticky stage blood. The special effects team filed a hollow head with prosthetic stage blood and plugged the neck with a gelatin core that melted under the hot lights. As Salome danced, more and more of the blood ran out of the head until she was covered in it! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...100806533.html The part of the executioner was played by Samuel Bing, who could give the English Executioner a run for his money, muscle-wise. He kept his pants on, however! http://www.bing.com/../indexes/images/search?q=...electedIndex=7 http://blogs.kennedy-center.org/site...ALOME1_074.jpg I think I like the pictures of the English version better! |

Mdlftr, both links don't work. |
| |||
I think he copied and pasted them from earlier in the thread (they're both up there if you check) without realizing that vBulletin stupidly truncates URLs in the middle (see the "..." in the center of those links?) vBulletin doesn't like big chunks of text (presumably because it alters page layout on smaller screens). So it will add spaces if you try to make a single long word: heresareallylongwordwhichiamtypingwithoutanyspaces butnoticethatvbulletinbrokeitupwithspacesagainstmy wisheswhichisreallyreallyannoyingifyoureputtingthi ngsinablockforarealreason. If you do a link with no text -- as in "http://example.com/" -- or just put in a URL and let it auto-detect it, then the URL is used as the text (the example I just gave would be http://example.com/). But if the URL is longer than its maximum allowed block of text, it will do the stupid "..." thing in the displayed text, although the actual URL in the link will still work. The end result is that you can't just copy and paste links between posts, because they will break by design. |
