Speaking as an author myself, I don't see the point. The moment you post something to the net, it's out there -- and people can use OCR software and other means, including the brute force of just retyping it, to get it out on the net. The moment it goes out as an eBook, including commercial copies for iTunes or Amazon, the copy-protection can be cracked and the story can and will get out.

None of us are writing the Great American Novel here. To me, this is just for fun... and I speak as a guy who's sold a lotta articles for actual money to dozens of magazines for 30+ years. Just let it go. If you decide to publish it (for profit) someday, ask the sites to take the story down, rewrite it extensively, and put it out. There's been tons of books done that way, including 50 Shades of Gray, which I believe has made about $50,000,000 so far.

If this story was about a guy who is 15 when he starts growing....given all the agita on this site about "Child pornography" and "Big Brother is watching!!!" I can totally understand why you would want to limit access to this story.

Your reasons, whatever they are, are your own.

You did come up with a free way to limit access without charging people.

That way, IF someone does get all indignant about the "immoral" aspects of an underage story, you can remind them of the story of the little old lady who got all upset about the man "Whistling that FILTHY song!"

I don't particularly want to sign up for an account there, but then I might already have one. In any case, it's your story, it's perfectly within your rights to make it available however you like, and you're not being unreasonable, just inconvenient. I haven't decided if your good story will overcome my laziness.

That inconvenience is hardly worth the response Funboy gave. Was there any particular reason you chose to use that particular method? (I can understand if you pulled it based on the 17-and-over rule here. That rule exists because people don't want to be persecuted by over-zealous cops who think make-believe is the same as real.)

To read these stories you must:

1. Read (the story in its entirety or as much as published)
2. Think (about what this story is really about and not just the physical wording)
3. Consider (physical story versus how you read it and possible alternatives that can be considered by others. Keep an open mind.)
4. Comment Constructively (think and edit carefully what you post here, a negative comment like funboy's can be considered the verge of trolling. You want to make a comment or criticism that can make sense and be considered seriously. You can't do that with adolescent berating and attempts at humiliation. As forest said, "Stupid is as stupid does." and if your comments sound like an angry rant, edit them or don't post them at all.)

Also if you find small things you dislike but like the story in general... use your imagination and edit it in your head as to how you would like it (person who is 15 on paper is 18 in your head as you read for example).

There are tasteful ways this can be done. It all depends on the characters maturity.

Looks can be deceiving. I recall an episode of Buck Rogers where he encounters a race of people who age backwards. They were born elderly and die as children but mature mentally as they "grow younger". How would someone consider that?

Who was the judge that commented on pornography? "I know it when I see it?" Same applies for what would be for tastefulness and appropriateness in these stories. We all have the common sense know what is and isn't acceptable. And I am sure that all of us have the common sense to know when it is appropriate to say "that crossed the line."

But we all also know the rules to follow and must be respectful to those that host your stories. If you think there will be a chance the story is questionable, ask a moderator, the should give you an unbiased opinion but they will error on caution as well.

I'm fairly sure that kenstaff is logging in to mymusclevideo.com periodically, that the site will tell him about any pending friend requests, and that he accepts friend requests whether you mention them here or not, whether your user name matches the one you use here or not. If you don't get immediate access, it probably means he hasn't checked the control panel there since you sent it, which is perfectly normal (the guy has to eat and sleep sometime!). If he didn't want to let people read his stories by making friend requests, he wouldn't have mentioned it upthread.

So perhaps could we stop bumping the thread with "me too!" for a while? Save the comments for when you have read and enjoyed his story and want everyone to know how much you liked it.
