Beautiful guy, song and video, but also very sad... |
| |||
its a country western song... its supposed to be sad. |
| |||
Well, it does not really change the sadness of the situation that so many have had play out so many times. I would have rather wanted him to get his All American Boy, and be happy. There is way too much sadness in the world as it is... |

Oh my word... how far we've come. And the artist is seriously hawt! |
| |||
Did I say hawt? More like, ohmyfuckinhell! |
| |||
The guy's a struggling country singer, here's a fan page http://stevegrand.bandcamp.com/ quote: about I don't have a manager or a label or any sort of funding other than the tip money I make playing piano downtown at The Joynt, and also, ironically to some, in the churches on Sunday morning... (we'll see how long I'll be singing ?Glory to God? should this video see the light of day). Anything you can give is a huge help to me. This is the story I've been aching to tell my most of my life. ... more (We should visit his fan page!) |

My point is, very few gay men have 'I'm gay' written on their forehead, to put it bluntly. And very few still tend to go for the ones that do. The video makes a lot of effort to show mixed signs, and frankly, it does a good job, and shows what happens when you are forced to deal with with mixed signals and assumptions in matters where you are most vulnerable emotionally. And then - you are older than me and I am sure you could think of a 'few' instances where it later turned out some men like that were bi and then even later, being bi turned out to be a 'phase'. Especially in places where being more or less openly gay is a problem. On the other hand, he's handsome (and then some), great body, talented, obviously clever enough to tell a story sufficiently subtly (even if with some help)... hell, I'll take him any day |

I'm not sure how much of that song is autobiographical. But it's hard to feel very bad for this fellow......looking like he does, and with his talent, he will have no problem at all finding the gay All-American guy of his dreams. |
| |||
Calhoun, I don't think he's really looking for a bromance He wants to be a star! A guy known for his music. He's not in it for the showmance, he's in it for fame and glory so a bromance aint going to cut it here. And he is talented and he is queer, and he is beautiful. It is 2013 but somebody is going to have to cut him a break. You know like how Ricky Martin made Tatum Channing an extra in the video She Bangs and according to Wikapeadia that's how he was discovered. That kind of crap. Getting laid is not his problem. |
| |||
Well, maybe he isn't just into getting laid, maybe he is looking for a meaningful relationship? |
| |||
AmpuZA... I think he really wants to be a big star. He's chosen the Country Music niche, maybe, he's from the South, not Capetown, but the American South. I think we are all looking for love but if you bother checking out his site, which I provided a link to, you'll see he's looking for more out of his life than someone to share a bed with. He has big dreams. |
| |||
Yeah, I get the idea that he is looking for stardom, I don't understand why gay musicians have to stay closeted, I mean (disregarding the legal and religious implications should every gay person be out) there should be an audience (more or less) of say 200 million at least who he could reach. I know people have different taste, I am myself not that big on country, but in principal I would support him. |
| |||
After this video his closet door is wide open And country music is the music of rural America, particularly the South, and Nashville, Tennessee is the capital. I'd be surprised if foriegners were captivated by it. It's like Schlager music in Germany, it's something you grow up with. It means something to you and in how you see the world. Unless you were a cultural rebel it wouldn't necessarily say anything meaningful to people in another culture. But some stars and tunes are very inclusive. When I was a boy and my dad's mom was alive she kept a cardboard box under her bed full of country song lyrics she'd written. She kept sending them to country music magazines that were always looking or pretending to look for talent and never got published. From her back porch we could look out across a cotton or soybean field, after the cow was sold, to see the levee in the distance. The thing that kept the Mississippi out in bad Springs. It's the music of a time and place and like those things it is changing all the time into something new. |

Not to interrupt this fascinating discussion on a muscle forum on what qualifies as country music, but Steve Grant was also a model under the name "Steve Chatham" All American indeed |

I've heard of him. The Daily Mail (a British paper, as I'm wary of the state of American news) did an article on him. It was yet another of their fluff pieces that you have to push aside to get to the hard-hitting news stories, but I digress. He's handsome, has a great body, and is very talented. The only thing that would have to deal with is the fact that country music fans are, more often than not, very right-wing, and may not be very receptive of an openly-gay artist in the genre. Remember the Dixie Chicks? They're still trying to bounce back after that whole, "We're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas" debacle, and that was ten years ago. __________________ Rule 34: If it exists, there's porn of it. in my best Takei voice... OH MY! (ps Mango, I am saying that loudly, not screaming at anyone.) Also, kinda weird but, was googling for a nice George Takei gif and this popped up... presumably you'll go OH MY when you see it and that is why... but I digress. Now I'm not picky here, but he looks like a marine, and if he is... a marine (with no gag reflex apparently), I'd already be interested just for the uniform, but seriously I don't want him to do that to a banana, I want him to teach me to do that to his banana... |
| |||
That's todays' marines for you He seems to be getting a lot out of that banana. |

Sorry to go off topic ampuZA but back to Steve Grand He's from Chicago but went down to Nashville's Belmont University for his college freshman year. He may be Southern by blood if not birth. His family may have Southern roots. Chicago's an immigrant city, and a name like Grand hollers Southern because it's not German or Polish or Hispanic, the main White ethnic groups in Chicago. But back to the dude. I googled him and see that his video has gone viral with about half a million hits. He's just been on Good Morning America and the Chicago Sun Times did a piece on him. He's taking off like a rocket. I just scraped the surface of his sudden fame. Not that interested. But always intellectually curious. Who, what, where, how, why. |

the original thread time for a bump. |

I'm a bisexual, I am attracted to men based on everything except their orientation Bisexual in that I can go for gay or straight men. If he isn't married or partnered with kids I don't care about sexual orientation one way or the other. But I did have a straight bodybuilder 30 something years ago requite my attention by offering to jerk off while I watched. I wanted on or in him so I said no, I'm not versatile sexually, just indifferent to orientation. there are guys who have a fixation on straight men. but that isn't my affliction. a lack of flexibility in what I want to do is my cross. |

oh yeah, I fucking love his haircut fucking love everything about him. |
