Okay... so, I was wondering how you guys feel in general about stuff like:

1. Manning's sentence... Fair, Yes or No?
2. Do you think Snowden is a hero? Yes or No?
3. Has Obama failed as a president? Yes or No?
4. Is the US spiraling towards oblivion? Yes or No?
5. Do you think that these things happening are a sign of diverse interests
that are manipulating events to achieve a certain global outcome. Either
Illuminati, some kind of Bank Cartel, Aliens or whatever?
6. Zimmerman. Right outcome or wrong outcome?
7. Do you feel that the white kid being shot by bored teenagers was
a hate crime or just a random act of incredible cruelty?

Seriously, I would like to know what people think in General, raise any relevant topic you want, and people please respect the other person when stating your feelings / thoughts.

Look, I have no doubts we all diverse and in many cases opposing feelings about these kinds of loaded comments, and I'd like to keep the forum as friendly as possible, but I also like a bit of discourse on the side now and then and I was just wondering how the people on this forum generally view these very important (and some not so important) issues.

Just keep calm and try to be open and objective.

Or just don't engage.

But feel free to explain yourself.

Number 2: Is Snowden a hero? I imagine he sees himself as such. But the line between righteous revolutionary and dangerous rebel is blurry and shifts depending on perspective. I don't think two ways about it, as I have my own problems to deal with.

For number 3, I don't think Obama has completely failed. There are some things I don't like about his decisions. Fast and Furious worries me, while I still don't see a reason to keep Guant?namo open. He's not the best President we've had, but neither is he the worst. I imagine that some conservatives will use their misgivings about him as a litmus test for future Black candidates.

With number 4, I believe that we're slowly approaching a point where there will be no turning back from World War 3. If we continue to try and be the world's police, we will step on the wrong toes that could launch us into another war, and we do not have the financial resources to fight that one. We need to fix our own problems before we help other countries with theirs.

For number 6, I can't say for sure. The only other person who knows what really happened that night is dead. All anyone can do is speculate based on what they were told by their favorite news outlet.

In regards to number 7, I see it as incredible cruelty. I have yet to see anything about race being a primary factor in that senseless murder.

#2: Is Snowden a hero? In a way he is for the common person in the US because he felt he needed to let the people know that our government is spying on them.

#3: Obama hasn't failed entirely even though he is responsible for me becoming an independent. I feel as if he is becoming a conservative and there are no left-leaning politicians left.

#4: Oblivion no, disaster OH YES!

#6: Wrong outcome. Zimmerman continues to show that he learned absolutely nothing from that case as he travels around the country showing his stupidity.

#7: Welcome to America. Bored teenagers = thoughtless killing; until guns actually leave the streets, this is what we have to look forward to

1. Yes, it's fair, but I also think she (yes, I'm respecting her gender transition) should be pardoned as I genuinely believe she was trying to do the right thing.

What do you guys think about the whole Miss America being an Indian issue? For me it's a non issue, but then I live in a country where being white / coloured / asian (incl. Indian) basically being everything but black makes you a minority, yet it would not be funny to see a coloured girl or indian chick win the Miss SA contest.

So it's basically "meh" for me, but I was wondering if there really was such a furor over it in the US as the media seems to make it out to be?
