Criminals + Prisons = Musclemen

It has long been proven that American prisons are perhaps the best places to become bodybuilders (the recent postings by Kali Muscle on his YouTube channel promoting his book about his prison life being an example) but it would appear that the United States is not the only country where this happens.

In 2001, four South Africans were sentenced to 12 years in prison after assaulting a homeless man and beating another to death in 2001. They were released from jail on Tuesday on parole. Since then however, video evidence, filmed by the gang themselves has appeared online and caused a stir in South Africa. The reason? Baltant displays of muscularity that they did not have when they entered prison



I would like to know whether members have a view on this and whether or not the people of South Africa should be shocked to discover that prisoners get muscular whilst in prison?

Just watched the video. They were already quite athletic when they went in, and I always assumed that inmates were encouraged to exercise. But apparently these two got take away! meals delivered etc. Although our prisons aren't a joke, see Four Corners when it hits the big screen, corruption is rife. And it helps if your parents are connected and wealthy enough. As far as Christoff goes, look I am not going to deny that he is an amazingly attractive man physically, but unfortunately whilst he might have grown physically, he obviously knows nothing of empathy and regret for his actions. A life lost and not even the chance of another saved or turned around.

This is what happens when mom and dad believe that "affluenza" is areal illness.

Prison is a testosterone fueled environment.
Large numbers of men crammed together in tight lovin quarters for long periods of time = high levels of aggression, predation, increased testosterone etc. So yes prison inmates tend to be more jacked on avg.
but there is still obesity and non muscular guys in prison lots of them.

more jacked on average? ive seen guys who train 2 times a week who look bigger, they hardly look like the hulk and its hardly like evolution, theyd become agressive maybe but not produce any more test for being in jail

This story, if true, brings to mind the policy of removing exercise equipment from prisons just so the prisoners wouldn't get huge.

Also, there is a picture floating around out there somewhere of a sign in a police officer's gym: "Did you lift today? The criminal out there did!"

Talk about the war on crime.....

They were sent back because of the video. And because it put the corrupt prison management in the spotlight. I have no doubt their diet will be closely watched for probably the first three months and they will most some mass. But in this country memories are shorter as pockets grow deeper.

I'm all for men getting bigger and stronger, even men in prison, but I won't celebrate murderers. I hope they have "accidents" in the prison gym now that they're back where they belong.
