The theorum of chaos, PT 1 This is my first posted story of this kind, and i whole-heartedly appreciate any feedback on it. I know the ending may suck a little... but meh. Anyway this is a working story, and this is to see whether i have a valid stroyline going or not. ----- I see myself mentally on a crossroads; one way leads to happiness, and the other leads to the deep, dark chasms of depression and suicide. I cannot help but to smile at the irony of the situation; here I have a choice in front of me, but it was made long ago before I even knew of this ones existence. Preparing myself, I move on the path to… 3 years earlier… All I can remember seeing is a bright white light, with the echoing of voices of events around me. It seemed to last an eternity, but in truth it could not have lasted more than a few seconds. Then I knew, I knew that I was in some eyes a freak not to be seen with, others an average person, and others a target of all the hate and rage in their lives. I could channel my energies, I was unique… a sum of the continued evolution of mankind. I can now call out of the blankness of the natural void any object I wished, and force upon changes to living souls except my own. In those few seconds… I was reborn. 1 year ago… For 2 years now, I have lived with a self-imposed exile from the rest of humankind. Not that I would want to associate myself with a group of barbarous monsters who dress up actions that are as base and as despicable as the playground bully with florid religious claptrap and meaningless words of apologies. I remember when I first met him, most of the time I try to give people who are new to the school the warm shoulder, but following the typical pattern of things, they soon turn against me, so I just shock them with the sub-zero shoulder. They never pester me again, except for three of them. They are the pain of my life, the incredibly painful bullet in my side, Matt… Gio… and Blake. They continue to inflict pain and suffering on me on a regular basis. Since they started weightlifting, their punches and kicks seem to be penetrating my self-sustained shields a lot more than usual. I reckon another month, and I won’t be able to withstands that lightest poundings they could offer. Anyway, I remember when I first met him, his name was Joe. He just started appearing in my classes one by one until I suddenly realised something odd about him... there was a strange, kind of an aura, of power and strength surrounding him. And that was exceptionally obvious in the size of his muscles, but his attitude was not that of an arrogant jock, but more of a saviour. Present Day: 'You know of chaos theory?' I asked Joe, 'Fractal curves or strange attractions?' 'Er... no. Not really.' He answered, a bit confused by my quick sentence. 'Oh come now, I can't believe your not familiar with the concept of... ah! Strange Attractions!' I replied laughingly. 'Listen David, I want to know about this chaos theory you believe in, not all that other crap.' 'Fine, chaos theory it is. Now for an analogy, Lets say you had the most brilliant mathematician available to you, the exact angles and dimensions of a pool table, the white ball, exactly how much pressure you'll apply, and you spend months working out where the ball will go. With me?' 'Yesss...' 'Now you start the ball rolling, but almost immediately it doesn't go the way you expected, it slowly veers off then heads in a completely different direction than you predicted. There goes months of calculations out of the window. Now the cause... minuscule air currents play a part, as well as imperfections in the surface of the ball and table. That's what chaos theory deals with.' 'Then to use one of your words, why are you so “devotedly interested” in it?' 'Because chaos theory does a fantastic job in describing what happens in reality so well. Which is what ordinary mathematics doesn't cover very well, or at all.' 'How about you give me some proof then.' 'Okay... Matt is currently sneaking up behind me to smack my head into the table... hes frozen now, unsure what to do because he knows i know he there and hes about to...' Bang! Everything faded into darkness. Last edited by Excelsior; June 23rd, 2007 at 04:42 AM. |
