Vallejo Hulk http://www.imaginistix.com/paintingsdetails.cfm?Id=54 Boris Vallejo. He's over the top and he knows it and he knows we all love it, especially when he's drawing musclebound, half (or more) naked MEN. Here's a pic of his of the Hulk, our hero. I'd never seen it until today. You can buy a print directly from him too if you're so "inspired." I wonder if he's ever done a growth sequence? |

I agree. Vallejo is one of the best for depicting the male physique. But then, that's because he uses actual bodybuilders for his live models(i.e. John Kemper, Lee Labrada). He did a series of ads for the Weider organization a number of years ago using top physique stars of the time. Each one was better than the one before. His work on Edgar Rice Burroughs projects are also not to be missed. Tarzan hasn't look that good since Frank Frazetta! |

I was a little bit struck when I learned that he's straight. While he definitely likes the ladies (His women are just as hot as his men, I swear.) he must be playing on our team just a little bit with the hunks he does. And they're all shirtless and muscled and sweaty... damnit, now I'm all worked up... |

Boris was just a pussy that was crawling around in Frazetta's creative juices and got where he was cuz he has a decent eye for capturing what he sees. |

This thread is now officially resurrected! Here are some pics I found on Boris' site: A promo for ESPN - http://www.imaginistix.com/advertisi...ails.cfm?Id=31 And something for the UK's Channel 4 - http://www.imaginistix.com/advertisi...ails.cfm?Id=44 The first one looks more like a growth scene than the second but both make great scenarios, although the second one is a little nutty with the fucking rabbits and the yappy dog and the giant sausage (no, not that kind of sausage, you pervo.) I think these were both collaborations between Boris and his equally talented (and muscle minded) wife, Julie. |

I was always partial to this one.. and like some of you I tended to think he was "family" with the sexy muscled men he drew.. http://vallejo.ural.net/1981/show.php?017 and is it me or is this one based on Bob Paris? http://vallejo.ural.net/1993/show.php?021a |
| |||
I would say it's either Bob Paris or Lee...Abrada (is the last name?) I can't remember...but I think it's Lee that posed for that one. (shrug) __________________ Frank Easky aka F_R_Eaky |

definitely Lee La brada |

Yachirobi, the second picture is of Graham Norton. |

Does kinda look like him............... |
| |||
That explains so much. Thanks! |

Note that back in the day, he was his own model for a fair bit of his work. "White Magic", "Gracius the Slaver" on http://vallejo.ural.net/1978/show.php?003 - that's Boris's face. In one of his art books, he even showed the reference photo of himself for one painting. (I have heard that his son was also in the reference photo for "Duel/Earth Magic") |
| |||
Of course he has himself in a court full of beautiful women. *snicker snicker* |
| |||
Gotta wonder if one of the woman is his wife if the guy is him |
| |||
A long time ago my aunt gave me a packet of book labels for my SF collection which contained Boris' ON GOLDEN WINGS painting. Vallejo has been a master of drawing idealized men and women. He was a good-looking, well-built man who married an equally good-looking, well-built woman. Sigh... |
