New starter

Hi

I'm hoping someone could give me some advice.

I'm about to purchase my first multi gym and was wondering what sort of training schedule would be best for me?

I'm currently 6'2 and overweight but I want to lose it all and build muscle. I joined a gym a couple of years back but it was a pain to get to from where I live and I just didn't go but with having something I can use when I want I know I'll stick to it. Also the trainer at the gym told me I have the perfect build to build up some really good muscle (he told me I was mesomorphic, have since looked it up and it said that was an easier gain type build). Anyway any ideas on how to start, how much I should be doing a week etc.

I'll be happy to share my progress with anyone who is interested.

Matt B

PS this is the multi gym I'm thinking of getting:

Oh and if anyone is feeling really generous and wants to be like an online advisor or sponsor or something I'd be up for that lol.

If you want any info from me etc just ask.

Focus on the core--legs, lower back, abs--and put yourself on a circuit training program so you can make your workouts fast, efficient and challenging. Eventually you should join a real gym.

Thank you for responding so fast, just wondering why you say I should join a real gym? I possibly didn't explain properly the multi gym is just the first thing I'm getting, I also plan to get a large set of weights, rowing machine, and either a cross trainer or exercise bike. I don't understand what the gym'll have that I'll need (except really large monthly deposits!)

Matt

I'll be honest I tried it a while ago and just didn't have time to go, it took me 30 mins to get there cos I live out in the sticks as such, my brother and nephew are interested in training as well, also I used to get very frustrated when I did go cos it was sooooo busy and you couldn't get at what you need to straight away and by the time you did u were cooled down (Very limited number of weight training equipment and tons of exercise bikes does not a good gym make lol)

I think I will set up my own one cos I have the space and money to do it at the mo.

I plan to get the multi gym i mentioned first get that set up and my schedule going, next up was a selection of dumbells. Then I was gonna get a large mirror for in front of the dumbells and an exercise mat for abs and crunches etc.

luckily the multi gym has the leg thingys on it so u can work your calves and quads etc

finally i wanted to get a rowing machine for stamina etc

thank you for your advice i'll no doubt be asking more questions lol

Matt

With the situation you've described, the multi-gym's as good a choice as any to get your foot into the door of working out, which is the important thing at this point, IMO.

However, one of these months, your body's going to look for something more challenging than what it can provide. You may want to check out Scooby's home bodybuilding workouts for more exercises you can do by yourself.

BTW, would you happen to have a list of the exercises the multi-gym lets you do?

The multi gym I'm thinking of getting lets you do; seated bench press. lat pull down, ped dec, leg extensions, leg curl, arm curl, rowing, tricep press, seated leg press, shoulder press and has upto 100kg resistance.

Also for cardio will be getting rowing machine, exercise mat for stuff like ab crunches etc, skipping rope and one of those little trampoline and some free weights.

BTW that website is fantastic, I was gonna ask if anyone knew of any that suggested workout routines etc.

I'm gonna start the beginner routine this Monday and see how I go with that so a couple of weeks, the one thing I'm scared of is overdoing it and then not enjoying it, which I know if i do i'll definately stick to it!

Now I just gotta sort out my diet lol...
