Like... a really, really really silly question... Well you know, when Im at the gym (awrighty Im not a bodybuilder but do the weightlifting stuff from time to time) I look at these dudes, who are ripped and buff and I see them curl a a light dumbell and sweat like... rivers... Okay I understand thats completely natural... they always have a big bottle of fancy , protein disolved purified water.... wich leads me to the question... I am the only one who doesnt drink water during training? I feel thirsty from time to time, specially in summer (heh, try living in sinaloa with 36 c? as your average shadow temperature) but I really dont sweat so much... and If Im thirsty, One sip of water from the bathrooms' sink and its enough ( I know many of you will rant about two things: 1- EWWWW FROM THE SINK! and 2- DUDE ! dont lose time going to the batrhoom. and I say that its a very small gym, you dont burn more than thirty seconds going to the batrhoom and... C'mon Water is... WATER!) |

Sink water depends on how water is in your area, here we have VERY GOOD water, so we drink it from the sink. When i go to the gym i fill my bottle and go to the weightroom. As far as I'm concerned you must drink before, during and after workout, even if you are not thirsty (being thirsty is the first sign of dehidration). With sweat... the body learns, so the more you workout the more you sweat, because the body learns how to make you cooler (i mean cold, not just cool like a bodybuilder ) |

I only drink (and eat) before and after. I leave my bottle in the dressing room. I think it's something that's left over from my footballing (soccer, for some of you). When I drank in between (like in breaks, I played futsal mostly), I'd perform worse afterwards. My bowels would also object after a sprint (you know, the feeling that is usually ascribed to the spleen, even though spleens actually never hurt). I'll bring my water bottle in with me then...! |

I sweat like a whore in church, and depending on the workout I can go through a quart or more of water in less than an hour. __________________ Blanche: I don't really mind Clayton being homosexual, I just don't like him dating men. Water is reccomended. I understand that the water in Mexico is not very good. The problem with not drinking water often enough is that your body will be depleted of minerals that are needed for muscle health and growth (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium). There really is no way to get around not drinking plenty of water. If you are able to drink the water without getting sick I suggest that you make tea out of it. I know for years doctors said the caffeine dehydrates, but there is such a small amount of caffine compared to the net gain of the water it's non-consequential. That might help take some of the bad taste out. |

Is water supposed to help with soreness too? I'm just getting into this wroking out thing and soreness can last about a day or 2 for me. Is this natrual/unnatrual and is it water that's supposed to help or something else? |

Water at the gym abbraxis, Keeping hydrated (drinking a lot of water) is the best thing you can do for your body when you're exercising. By the time your body feels thirsty, the damage has already been done. Keep a bottle with you and hydrate between sets, as needed. If you're sore after your workout it means you're doing something right. I'm not talking about severe pain, but you should have a sense of having used your muscles to the point of failure. THAT's when they respond to the stress of working out by GROWING to overcome future stress. Water keeps your tissues flush and helps your body metabolize toxins in your system. You're going to be processing a lot more protein, with a bodybuilding diet, and water helps flush your kidneys. Good luck in the gym! -BigLittleTim |
