Top 10 Physical Transformations for Film |
| |||
I was fully prepared to declare Batman Begins a lost cause.....but after the first few scenes with Bale, I really didn't give a.... |

Of course the gay guy in me woofs after Christian Bale in ANY form. Hell, he was sexy in The Machinist when he got absurdly bone skinny. The man is just walking sex, whether he's the caped crusader or a sociopath. But can I also mention Thank you for posting this, O. I love all sorts of transformations and I love seeing people dedicated enough to their craft to go through these types of transformations. It's inspiring in many ways. |

I always thought Chalrlize Theron made the most shocking transformation. I didn't really know who she was before "Monster" and I never saw the movie but I remembered what she looked like in the previews... and then I saw her at the Oscars and was like, "WTF!" She's beautiful when she's not looking like trailer trash. But yeah, Christian bale... gaining 100 lbs in a matter of months? Even WITH steroids, that's a MAJOR accomploshment. And even if he used them, he must have used them sparingly cause he donsn't have any of the physical issues that arise... and everyone always says he's so nice... ... so I wonder if he did use them... But either way, that takes a special kind of love for acting... (borderline obsession) |

I'm a little surprised that Tom Hanks wasn't in the list for his transformation in Philadelphia where he played a man dying from AIDS. |

And "Cast Away". He changed quite a bit for that movie too, now that you mention him... or was it a fat suit? |
| |||
I don't think it was a suit. I think they shot the movie at two different times: first, with him at "regular" weight, they took a break for a few months while Hanks lost the necessary weight, then resumed shooting. |
