DGZ ch-1; Blast from the Past

Trunks was tired...so very tired. Goku and King Kai had made him work harder then he ever thought possible. But the efforts had paid off even greater then the pain. The duo had taught him several techniques that were all easy to learn due to his large amounts of training so far, but to make them more powerful then what they originally were, that took some major work. It had taken Trunks a whole year of training to learn everything and do it well. He could still remember everything like it was yesterday....



"Trunks, before I start teaching you anything, I want you to go and stay Super Saiyan for 1 month, if possible, without letting it go. We won't train anything else until being a Super Saiyan feels natural." Goku had told him.

Trunks was confused, why would he waste so much time and energy just staying a Super Saiyajin and doing nothing with it? Certainly there had to be a good reason yes, but despite his natural smarts, the teen Saiyan could not figure out what it was.

"Goku-sensei, why would you want me to do that? Certainly I can learn while I stay a Super Saiyajin?" Trunks asked, still quite confused.

"I can see what you mean Trunks-san. Allow me to show you." replied Goku, before turning into a Super Saiyan without the slightest bit of effort. "This is what I like to call a Full Power Super Saiyan. In this form, I'm at the same strength as a normal Super Saiyajin but all of the negative effects are gone, such as the massive energy usage and the emotional effects. I use my ki much more effectively allowing me to fight much longer then I normally would. So in order to learn some of the techniques you may need, you must learn this."


One month later....


"Good Trunks, keep at it!" said Goku, blocking blows that Trunks gave with relative ease. Trunks had learned the FPSS quite easily, but it had taken time to stop the emotional effects due to his troubled past (author's note: and/or future, depending on how you look at it).

Trunks stopped for a moment, very tired. He powered down from his FPSS and watched as Goku turned from a SSJ2 back to normal. Goku had surprised Trunks by turning into an SSJ2 with ease, not needing the incredible emotional pain that Gohan had to go though. Already Goku had more or less made the SSJ2 into a Full Power SSJ2.

"You've done very well Trunks-san. I think you're ready to begin to learn the techniques you're going to need." said Goku.

"Thank you Goku-sensei, but what techniques are you going to teach me?" asked Trunks, bowing in respect.

"Hmm....The Kamehameha Wave as a starter, as well as the Shunkan Ido (Instant Transmission)." replied Goku.

"I'll also throw in the Genki Dama and Kaio-Ken, if you can do what I always want!" said King Kai, walking over after watching the battle.

Both bowed slightly and said together, "Kai-sama!"

"Oh stop it, save that for the Dai Kaio, you know he LOVES such things!" replied the deceased god, greatly snickering at his horrible joke.

Goku started to faked laugh and seeing that Trunks wasn't laughing Goku elbowed his student in the side; getting the picture Trunks also started to faked laugh.

Calming down slightly, King Kai continued, "Well, I see that Trunks-san has a sense of humor, I think he deserves to be taught my skills, wouldn't you Goku-san?"

"Yes King Kai, I believe he does." replied Goku. "Would you like to teach him first, or shall I?"

"You teach him the Kamehameha and Shunkan Ido, I will teach him my techniques myself."


Another three months later...

"Congratulations Trunks-san, you have mastered my techniques." said Goku, quite proud of his student.

"And mine as well." finished King Kai. "However, you still have one problem that we haven't discussed."

"What is that Kai-sama?" asked Trunks, quite curious as to what the god could have met.

"You know the Kaio-ken and can transform what you like to call the "Ultra Super Saiyajin" correct?" replied King Kai, completely serious.

"Yes Kai-sama, I do."

"And the Kaio-ken increases speed and power as many times as your body can handle, correct?" continued the god.

"Yes Kai-sama."

"But your "USSJ" decreases speed a lot, but you can't turn into an SSJ2 to prevent that loss, correct?"

"Yes Kai-sama." Trunks was getting confused, where was King Kai going with this?

"Then shouldn't you try to combined the speed of the Kaio-ken with your USSJ?"

"Yes Kai-sama."

"But...the Kaio-ken increases power as well, so there is your problem, turning the Kaio-ken into only a speed increase, correct?"

"Yes Kai-sama." Now Trunks understood, but still, couldn't he just increase his speed by having higher gravity and using his USSJ form?

"Ah, I bet you're thinking that you should just train in your USSJ form and get your speed that way, right?"

"Yes Kai-sama." Boy, Trunks was making a real habit of saying that.

"Well, do you really think that would help you on a short term basis? What if something were to happen and you hadn't gained much speed in your USSJ form, wouldn't you have to have to power down to a normal Super Saiyajin to regain your speed?"

"Yes Kai-sama."

"Do you see, by combining your USSJ with my Kaio-ken, you can easily break the speed problems that you have until you've trained enough in it to not need it anymore."

"Yes Kai-sama."

"Now, let us begin to truly start your training, Trunks-san...and by the way...'Yes Kai-sama."

"Yes Kai-sama."..Trunks cringed, he had fallen right into that one.


Present time...


All of that training, it was finally over and he was ready to get back home. He could break the speed limits of his USSJ should he need them and he now knew several other techniques to help himself out as well.

"Good-bye Trunks-san, I hope that your timeline becomes peaceful once your work is done." said Goku, waving a good-bye.

"Thank you Goku-sensei, I know it will." replied the fellow Saiyan, as he used the Instant Transmission to return to his parents' home. His mother Bulma was waiting and told Trunks that his time capsule was ready and waiting. On the way to it, he saw his father and noticed that he had given Trunks a tiny nod, as respect to the incredible increase in power that was obvious to both Saiyans. Trunks gave a tiny nod back, but was happy to an extent that he never knew, but he had the knowledge as to why his father acted the way he did. It didn't matter, his father, Vegeta, Prince of all Saiyans had acknowledged him, that was enough.

Trunks got inside his time capsule, set the time for his own, and he was off.

Now came the very easy task of returning to his time, and destroying the androids there. This was going to be quite easy. The androids didn't have a chance in all of HFIL (Hell) of beating him now!
