Is a chat area in the site, don't you think?

most of us just use yahoo (or aol or msn) for that purpose.

Since the site is paid for by one person, I'd hate to increase his bills with a chat area too.

Someone could post a link to the chat site they create on yahoo or msn in here when they feel like chatting.

Actually, MSN chats are now only a premium service...

It would add virtually no cost to the site.

I also think a on site chat would be great. I am real surprised how few members post new threads or even bother to respond to existing threads. There also is always a large # of unregistered users viewing.

If $ is an issue, I think a voluntary contributions to a designated Paypal account could help to defray costs.

I guess its a matter of give and take. I've posted numerous replies and on only two occasions (one was general, one was personal) has anyone ever bothered to acknowledge it.

I don't see there is nothing to be surprised about, it seems that is just the way it is.

If you really want to chat, like Corwin says, set up a messenger id in your profile and you can talk to your hearts content.

From what I've seen in other boards and lists, this behavior is par for the course. It takes time for people to come out of the lurker closet, as it were, and are happy to stay that way. I'm somewhat of a lurker myself in other places and will post when I'm ready.

For a little bit of fun, read the tongue-in-cheek post The Natural Life Cycle of Mailing Lists which was written in 1995 but still very applicable today.

OK, I agree that many members can be very blas? about posting here, and I have bitched about it before (I think that was called Where did everyone go? in the General category). I have come to accept that the members of this forum are here for their own enjoyment, not mine. They will only post when it suits them, and I am the same. There is no rule that we must all meet up on Wednesday night & Sunday morning like church, so people will post when it suits them. Similarly, not everyone is thinking of new things to comment about all the time. It would be fun if many of us would agree on a couple times a week to generally try to meet up. One great thing you must do is put your AIM & Yahoo chat info. in your profile. Otherwise your comment doesn't make much sense. I automatically think that you can't bother to put your chat info in your profile, then you want Flex to put a bunch of time into setting up a chat site ?

I don't understand why so few people respond either. I try to respond to as many posts as I find time for, whenever there are new posts... Also, I agree that there are too many "Lurkers". I wish more of them would set up a profile, and introduce themselves.

Sounds like a site I post on, FaceTheJury.com, the numbers that apply to that posting site are 5 and 6a.

yea, it can be more than just a little annoying when I come online and see no one's posted at all...
Now, I try to make plenty of posts (tho I think I've been lazy recently do to stress factors ) and I guess I just presume so does everyone else.
To everyone who does post often, I deeply thank you. Really, I appreciate the literature immensely

I'm really appreciative of all the posters here. And I'm really appreciative to all the regular contributors - who seem always willing to speak up, share, and be supportive and positive. I feel a definite sense of loyalty to the site.
