"Growing Pains" real or unreal ?

Need some feedback .

During July , my 14 yo cousin had a fever coupled with body aches and pain . He stood 5'5'' . It lasted for a week and a half . A month goes by and he grew about 3 inches.

I spoke to him about the experience .

I had a similar experience when I was his age . However , my aches and pain were more severe (from head to toe). Just to move was agony and the pain was a throbbing pulse caused my muscles to contract and relax with every wave.

Unfortunately , my growth spurt was not as dramatic as my cousin.
I went from 5'3'' to 5'6'' . My muscle mass did increase but not that much.

My dad told me that is "growing pains" or "growing fever" . I told my cousin , "It's only natural and don't be scared " .

Strangely , it happened again when I turned 17 . From 5'8'' to 6' as I approached my early 20's.

My cousin now stands at 5'10'' .
Just imagine when he turns 17 .
I researched it and some texts call it a "growing fever" .

According to the research , the fever is the body's way of reacting to the growth in the bones and muscles ( caused by the aches and pain ) . It went on to say that it's common for some people to experience puberty this way . Or is it ?

Some people say it's a myth -- I disagree. I don't remember a fever, but I do remember being racked by pain in my joints and bones -- particularly when I tried to sleep. There were nights where even the slightest movement could revive aches that only subsided when I was perfectly still.

I agree, I didn't get all that tall, I'm only 5'8", but remember when I was 14 and had a time of growth where I experienced pain in joints and bones and shot up about 3".

You are wrong . Think again over his remark.

Everyone's different. Though I assume males would experience it more than females because their changes are more drastic (muscles growing as well as the bones). Men are also slightly warmer than females due to the testosterone, so when hormones are flowin' hardcore, I'd assume that would cause a fever.

As far as I remember, I actually only had the problem pre-puberty. When i was around 7 or 8 I had intense growing pains that would keep me up at night from the heat and the pain in my legs. Like *whim*said, everyone's different.
