Real bodybuilding dads

Growing up, my father was a bodybuilder, and I was so proud of him! Did any of you have fathers who were bodybuilders or weightlifters?

Nope, wish I did though.

Going by your name and avatar, I'm assuming yours had a positive influence on you?

My dad wasn't a bodybuilder, but he grew up on a farm, worked as a mechanic and eventually wound up in aerospace. All very physical pursuits. I remember when I was a kid he had a pair of swim trunks that were similar to the ones you'd see on Steve Reeves, Reg Park or Jack La Lanne. He looked damn good!!!

Yeah my dad was a great influence on me. Most of my buddies dads were either very skinny or quite heavy, and then there was my dad. I just knew I wanted that kind of body when I grew up, too.

Tarmangani it sounds like your dad was in great shape!

Thanks tallmuscledman, he was. To give you some idea let me tell you a story. When I was in my late teens, he was repairing our dishwasher. He mistakenly got hold of a hot electrical wire. Involuntarily he tried to knock his hand free with his other hand, but this created a circuit that went up one arm across his shoulders and down the other. He withstood the current for several seconds before his sholulder blade fractured and broke the circuit. The doctors said that he was able to withstand the electrical shock because he was so well built. Just goes to show you that staying in shape can be a real life saver as well as making you look good in a pair of speedos around the pool or on the beach.
