I loved watching the re-runs of this episode, really cool back when i was a kid *sigh*

Remember that episode? It's the main reason (okay, so I like the show, too) that I sprung for the "Gilligan's Island" first season DVD set. Nothing finer that pausing that DVD as Miller's character is examining his biceps while Mary Ann and Ginger look on.

And, since I am apparently a font of this type of trivia, Denny Miller also guest starred in a later episode (#88--Our Vines Have Tender Apes) as an actor researching an upcoming role as a "Tarzan" wannabe. Miller is currently the "Gordon's Fisherman" by the way...

I remember those episodes too, loved them.
How about "I Dream of Jeannie" when Tony's ex-girlfriend drops by and Tony gets surprised by her new football player boyfriend, the big- buffed Bill Smith.

Oh I remember Bill Smith well, he was also a starred as a Texas Ranger in an little watched western called (I think) "The Streets of Laredo" or perhaps just "Laredo." There was also a movie based on the TV show--and in fact I think just a couple of episodes put together--where his character was captured by a native american woman who, though a gang leader, loved the look of Smith. She had him tied up--shirtless, of course--and stared at him. She wasn't the only one looking. I think I watched that show just so I could admire Smith's physique (apparently I liked muscle even before puberty kicked in ).

"Jeannie" seems to have had more than it's share of muscled men in the guest cast. According to "Dreaming of Jeannie" by Steve Cox (yes, I'm one of those people who buy books about old TV shows), Joe La Grasso guest starred on the show and later went on to become a professional bodybuilder. He started out working on props for the show. Also Barbara Eden's husband, Michael Ansara, appeared in several episodes. Not as big or buff as Smith--but well-built in his own right.

Thanks Not bigenuff, I remember that series well. I wasn't clear about the name. But Laredo sounds familiar, (I thought it was the Texas Rangers, oops) But Oh man, I tuned in every week to see that stud swagger around with those broad shoulders, bulging biceps and his shirt sleeves rolled up over those beefy forearms.
Eager Muscle, if you happen to find anything on Barbara Eden's son in his bodybuilder stage, please let us know. I know I would love to see it.
