Asterix at the Olympic Games Hey guys, I went to the cinema and I liked this movie...Besides being funny, it features LOTS of muscular athletes, from many countries...(Grece, Egypt, Gaul[France], Germany...) There are some hunks, for example : Nathan Jones (I didn't find his official website...) Jerome Le Banner and his ImDb page I especially liked when an Egyptian athlete throwed a javelin...this guy had HOT PECS !!! Unfortunately, there is no picture and he's uncredited...he appears only 30 seconds... If you want to see some video with the athletes, check out the trailers on the official site... Last link of interest : the IMdB page of the movie. Sorry guys, it won't be released in USA... __________________ Thufir Hawat aka Sam |

I forgot to mention there is a muscle growth sequence, when Brutus (Caesar's son, portrayed by B. Poelvoorde) wants to win the Olympic Games by cheating... He takes some potion and muscles balloon on him !! The sequence is hot, but short...and besides, the actor is kinda ugly (I say it even if he's a Belgian like me !!) Then he wears a ripped muscle costume (clearly fake...unfortunately...). Another good sequence is the demonstration of strength when Humungus (Nathan Jones) "fights" with his opponents... __________________ Thufir Hawat aka Sam |

wow very interesting, hot trailers!, I don't see if it's going to be showcased in theatres where I leave... maybe I will be able to get a dvd ? |

It seems that it won't be released in USA...but for sure you would prolly be able to get the DVD, if not in stores, by Amazon or any online store. __________________ Thufir Hawat aka Sam |

The great problem we have with our films, is that they are unexportable... Mainly for the comics ones. The language itself is the cause, nearly all the jokes and puns (play of word if I'm not mistaking) can't be translated. The best example is La Grande Vadrouille ( Don't Look Now... We're Being Shot At! in the USA), a french film from Gerard Oury released in 1966 with Louis De Funes and Bourvil. It's with Titanic the highest succes in cinema... For this new film of the adventures of Asterix, I'm not really sure of it... The last album of the comic strip was really a shame for the serie. And making a film of one of our most famous character is realy dangerous. Wait and see... for the release in US or in the rest of the wolrd, ( it's released all around in Europe), may be, just wait. We wait for the film from Hollywood 2 or 3 month or so... for the DVD, may be within 6 months. I'm still waiting for the DVD of Hairspray, issued 7 month ago... Sorry for all my mistakes |

Okayyyyy! The writers of this new Asterix movie wrote it carefully, with few puns, to make it more "exportable" in all European countries. So this would make it more understandable for foreign countries. But don't expect to a great movie, many people don't like it. A.M. |

Well, I don't live in the USA, I live in Argentina and Asterix and the olympic games is not slated for release soon here, they're probably catching up with all the american crappy movies before the Oscar's ceremony, then once these are released, in April they'll probably put Asterix in theatres, appart from that maybe they're waiting for the whole thing of the olympic games to give it a boost... |

You can check the release dates for every country on IMdB : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0463872/releaseinfo I don't see Argentina.............. __________________ Thufir Hawat aka Sam |

Thanks for posting this extract, redkage ! The Egyptian with nice pecs I was talking about can be seen at 2:40. Anyone knows someting about him ? The fake muscles ballooning on Brutus are to be seen at 4:15. They don't last for long...because of Brutus' arrogance and stupidity. Is the DVD out in your countries ? The European DVD (Zone 2) is on Amazon here : Asterix aux jeux olympiques - Coffret 2 DVD: Clovis Cornillac, Gerard... The movie wasn't a big success though. __________________ Thufir Hawat aka Sam |
