I think I know what happened. If you apply any font style other than the default, then the color tag is attached automatically. There were color tags visible in every line of your story (along with your own custom font styling tags), so I'm pretty sure this is what happened.

The best way around this is not to specify any font attributes and to limit the styling to bold and italic tags. I'm sorry that it limits your style options, but it does ensure that your story is readable to all users regardless of the interface skin.
