It seems that lately I've been digressing in my workouts. I was up to benching around 300# last year and now I'm doing good to get 6 or 8 good reps out at 225#. What's wrong with me? My barbell bicep curls suck too. I mean I'm 42 so I don't expect to get super huge and cut, but I know I can get better. I'm currently 6'2" 235#, 47.5" chest, and 17" arms, but my waist is a gross 36" (working hard on that). Anyone have advice for me?

Maybe its time to switch things up a bit, try superslow it can get you out of a rut and will give you some surprising gains. Another great program is called super squats, follow it religiously and you will get stronger and bigger.

Ideas for a lull

Hoosier,

Maybe you could try working with a trainer for a w/o or two? I've been doing it for a while, to ease my transition back into lifting, and I've learned so much about form and what works.

[Example: I never did drop sets before. Now that I've done them, I can't believe how my chest is taking off.]

Everyone's been there- The dreaded "lulls". Keep trying different things ( a different gym/ a trainer/ ask a friend/ acquaintance to go lifting) to change it up.

Good luck! (Great stats, btw)

Thanks for the tips guys. Unfortunately my gym doesn't have any trainers, but I could try the drop sets. I've done them before.
