The Olympic Games start in just over three weeks And following the discussion we had in 2004, I thought it would be nice to have a look at some of the athletes over the years who were misplaced (i.e they competed in one event, but their true calling could so easily have been bodybuilding). My nominations come from seeing photos in the DK Guide to the Olympics 1896 - 2004 (but if any other members have any suggestions do feel free to add them). Then during the Olympics themselves, feel free to nominate any current atheltes and then after the Games we can draw up a shortlist to vote on and perhaps I could then e-mail the winner and let them know that we think they are in the wrong sport! I had no idea Danny Devito was an olympic powerlifter! __________________ [Insert witty quote here...] |

I've been meaning to try this and see if it works vs I suppose there is a comparsion. Anyway back to the matter at hand Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Team (RSA) Athens 2004 __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

The Olympic Games start tomorrow and starting on Saturday I will be having a look at the various picture galleries online and submitting my own personal nominations for the "athlete who should leave his sport and become a bodybuilder" award. The sports that will be featured on Saturday are:
So that we don't manage to crash things, might I suggest a maximum of two nominations per member. __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

Today may have been the opening ceremony but I would like to nominate this fellow (who was the flag bearer for Denmark) as he held the flag at arms length completely level for the whole duration of the parade of nations (by my reckoning at least 600m). Hahah I thought the same thing when I saw that guy today, the camera allowed for a quick glance at his beefy arms also have you seen the black stud that was carrying the flag for Cuba, I'm not into black fellas but this one had 120kg and arms that stretched his uniform pretty bad __________________ Fuertesyrobustos.com - Crecimiento muscular en espa?ol |

I've recorded the opening ceremony onto a DVD in order to take snaps of the countries of friends of mine but at the moment the DVD drive isn't playing ball. When it does I'll upload some into Webshots and place a link to this Cuban that you nominated. For reference his name is Mijain LOPEZ and it should be no suprise to hear that he's a wrestler. __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

bodybuilding needs to be part of the olympics |

I'm watching Mens Gymnastics right now.Damn its so unbelievably homo-erotic.All that firm bulging muscles on display.All pumped from the various exercisises. Fabian Hambeuchen [Germany],Dimitri Savitsky [Belurus],Robert Stanescu & Marian Dragulescu [Romania],Mitjia Petkovsek [Slovenia]...Need i say more..? |
| |||
^Yeah, just came here to say that... Hmmm |
| |||
And for the benefit of our American friends (who have to suffer a 12 hour time delay) (Marian Dragulescu (ROM) performing the 9th best vault at Athens 2004) __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

My own personal nomination from Day 1 comes from a sport that you might not associate with muscles and that's judo, namely the bronze medallist in the Men's Under 60kg Class and his name is Rishod SOBIROV of Uzbekistan (He's on the extreme right of this picture) __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

Day 2 Nomination Today saw the first of the swimming medals awarded (and the BBC commentary team debate the merits of a swimmer celebrating a win by flexing) but my nomination could be a bit conterversial in some quarters Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon is a female Thai weightlifter who set a new Olympic record in the women's 53kg (106lbs) class __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

When you think of a muscular sport you usually assume that running, jumping and weightlfting comes to the fore. May I suggest you add canoeing to that as well Feng Liming (CHN) competiting in the Men's C1 Canoeing today. __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

Now you might think with the swimming in full flow it ws time for a swimmer to be nominated (and whilst that makes sense, my nomination today comes from a different pool) Sam McGregor (AUS) Water Polo __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

I feel the need to point out two of America's biggest and beefiest athletes...Christian Cantwell and Casey Burgener (shot put and weightlifting respectively) http://bearmythology.net/2008/08/08/...jackpot-again/ http://bearmythology.net/2008/07/07/...to-a-big-bear/ |

Mike Phelps (don't know if thats right but anyway) is now the greatest Olympic Athlete in history Woot US Swim team __________________ Play nice people. |

Gymnasts! It's amazing how their seemingly circuit-boy bodies just swell up with unreal muscle bellies and peaks depending on what they're doing. Too bad David Durante didn't make the team.... Check him out: http://nachofoto.com/search?q=david+durante |

So,lets say the Olympic sports featuring prominently,buff muscled guys,are: 1] Gymnastics 2] Rowing 3] Swimming / Diving /Water Polo [is that in the Olympics?] 4] Boxing 5] Weightlifting 6] Track [Sprint] Athletics 7] Field Athletics [ie Hammer/Javelin/Discus] 8] Wrestling 9] Judo [well,sort of.!] 10] For the slender wiry lean muscled athletes,i suppose Cycling/Triathlon Can U guys can come up with any BIG GUYS from the last two sports..? |

I liked french gymnast Benoit Caranobe, though there aren't many pics of him He doesn't have the biggest muscles but I think he's good looking __________________ Fuertesyrobustos.com - Crecimiento muscular en espa?ol |

Totally agree there, mutador. I was cheering him on this afternoon (though it probably wasn't even a live show). Glad he came in third so we got to see more of him The whole event was a treat, really. |

Day 6's nomination is rather a European thing There are not many sports which are named after two nations, but in this example Greece and Ancient Italy knew exactly what they were doing Mijain Lopez (CUB) in blue who won the Men's 264lb Greco Roman class __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

Hi! I've created a clip with my recordings of the shot put event, very hot thick men! I didn't upload to youtube because they will delete it as soon as they see it, but I could put it up in my site at this link. Here is a little sneak peak, athlete Pavel Lyzhyn from Belarus __________________ Fuertesyrobustos.com - Crecimiento muscular en espa?ol |

Artur Taymazov of Uzbekistan, picking up his coach after winning the gold in the 96-120 kg weight class for wrestling. |
| |||
Thats awesome. |
