What's the hardest part of working out?

Pretty straightforward, so honestly, what do you think?

Making time for cardio, mainly cause I'd rather lift with that time.

Can't say most healthy foods in the diet taste great. And who can resist that slice of chocolate double fudge cake? Makes it even harder to diet if fast food restaurants are nearby. (Damn that clown and its supersize meals!)

By far......

For me it is the dieting, especially when I am trying to bulk up and do force-feeding. It can be brutal!

One thing I would like to add.

At the beginning, when you're seeing progress constantly, where stuff is coming pretty easy, going to the gym is easy. But, when you stop seeing visual results or you're stuck on a plateau, it gets a lot harder. I think that might be the hardest part when you start feeling down about not making progress, doubt creeps in and it's so easy to just give up at that point.

On occasion, sometimes the hardest thing is just getting the motivation to go to the gym in the first place. It is very easy to be distracted or to put your training session off.

As for me, when I do start to feel that way I seriously ask myself if it is my muscles telling me to take the day off or is it all in my mind and am I just making excuses not to go. So that, coupled with GUILT, and I usually make the decision to just do it and go to the gym.

And on those occasions I usually have the BEST workout!

Getting Motivated is often difficult for me, especially back when I was bulking and just couldn't put on weight however much I ate. Now I'm lifting to maintain not to gain, and getting motivated just sucks. I work early in the morning up until just after midday, and when I get home I often think I'm more tired than I am, so dragging myself to the gym is difficult. When I finally get there I realize I'm full of energy and lifting is just the bollocks

I had to pick "finding the time." However, the poll is missing an important requirement: getting enough rest. My workouts lately have suffered because I've moved from 7-8 hours/night of quality sleep to 5-6 hours/night of restless sleep.

The injuries when trying to up training intensity: I seem to get strained muscles, or aggravate old injuries. The mind is willing but the body doesn't want to follow.

I'm there right now, figure I might as well take the next couple weeks and just do cardio (I hate cardio.......) and let my body otherwise recover.

Perspective

For me it's a combination of "getting motivated" and "finding the time". When I'm in a scheduled routine to work out at at specified time, then it's easy. When my schedule is crazy, I find it almost impossible to a. get motivated and b. fit in a workout.

For me, I find that I have to take the long view, and realize that consistency over time is what yields the results. While I agonize over missing an individual workout, I remind myself that it is the cumulative effect of those workouts, along with proper rest and eating enough food that leads to muscle size! I have to constantly remind myself that muscle building is a long term endeavor--otherwise I get down on myself for feeling that I'm not making progress!

When it all goes right, it's terrific! And that's what I constantly remind myself!

"Figuring out what works best for my body" is the closest thing to my personal answer, the lack of know-how.

If Obama can find the time to workout, we call can Everything up there is just an excuse...I have been guilty of many of those "excuses" but at the end of the day WE ALL CAN TRAIN the way we need to for the results we desire...It's just who wants it more

Ok that's my pep talk of the day...haha

Getting motivated/the want or need to workout

Which I actually consider to be simply getting started. Once I start, it's full speed ahead.

My problem is being motivated enough to stick with it after I see results. I usually get to a respectable level and then stop going. I'm never over or underweight but I'm also never ripped. I did great when I had a partner to go with regularly. I don't need them for moral support I need them as an obligation for me to go and stay there! Placeholder anyone LOL?
