He works (lifts) hard for the money...

The character that Taylor Lautner is playing in New Moon, is Jacob Black,
an Indian who is ******spoiler alert******
a shape shifter who often takes the form of a wolf.

In the books, his character grows to 6'7" and is muscularly proportionate. In New Moon he goes through a huuugee growth phase, so the 30# muscle gain is the least he could do!

I doubt Taylor Lautner can grow to 6'7', no matter what he does!

He did have to gain the muscle to keep the role.

Mdlftr (who recently read all 5 books in the series. I had a lot** of free time while recup'ing! )

Just like everything in media-land I'm sure the poster image was photoshopped. By how much I'm not sure. The screen captures from the movie trailer and the candids from both Access Hollywood and the movie set show he is definitely larger.

I don't think that with a $50 million budget the producers could afford digitally enhancing his body throughout the film, but who knows, it might not be so cost prohibitive for just one actor unlike the costly Beowulf and The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons that both had digital effects out the wazoo.

Ooops! My bad. There are only 4 books! You're correct!

{Since I read them all together, the numbers blurred a bit}
