Guys What is your take on the climate change deal situation I admire this guy for taking matters in to his one hands and wasting no time. Just wanted to find out general opinion what do you guys think. Copenhagen, Denmark - Delegates at the U.N. Climate Change Conference are "running short on time" to reach agreement on a deal, U.S. President Barack Obama told them Friday. "There is no time to waste," he said. "Now I believe it's the time for the nations and the people of the world to come behind a common purpose. We are ready to get this done today, but there has to be movement on all sides." |

My personal opinions are:

Climate change because of mankind is probably the greatest hoax of all time. It's all fear mongering, politically motivated propaganda. Everyone gets pulled into media hype without actually trying to look for facts themselves. (Like the H1N1 ‘pandemic’. *scoff*) Anyway... The Earth has gone through many cooling and warming phases all on its own. The last ice age ended thousands of years ago before cars, airplanes and factories. So maybe… just maybe it’s happening again without our doing. Water vapour is by far the greatest green house gas in the atmosphere, not carbon. Gasp! The amount of carbon emitted by mankind is very little in comparison to ‘natural’ events. IE geological events (volcanos, vents etc), rotting animals and vegetation, cows farting, and the oceans are the largest carbon sinks on the planet. They absorb atmospheric carbon and release it into the air in gargantuan quantities. The planet is going to do whatever it’s going to do. We’re just here for the ride. |

We're just here for the ride? Okay... we seem to be shitting all over the ride though. Why not go take a quick sample of air / seawater and ground to see how much it has already been polluted. Not by natural processes. By us. (Unless stuff like ddt is naturally occuring.) And aside from that, what about the amount of people on this planet? 6bn? More like 8bn if we had any of those kinda planet scanning devices they have in the scifi stories. Our census reports are approximate, there are always MORE people than a census counts, especially in 3rd world countries. That's 6+ bn people. Now go and figure out what the average weight of a person is in kg's or pounds and 70% of that is water. Water that is more or less contained and not flowing through the ecosystem. Obviously we cant undo our need for water, BUT according to a recent study this planet is now 30% overpopulated. I think it's probably closer to 60%. So 60% of say seven billion x 70% of 75kg (rough average probably its a bit lower), that's a lot of fucking water. There are way too many of us, if we had to rely on just solar energy probably the population would whittled down to something like under a billion. Anyway, and then about the air we breathe, how many litres of air is it that's converted into CO2 by us? Then you go and look at how we've deforrested such a great deal of the planet, poisoned the oceans (where the majority of our oxygene comes from) and how spread out and big our cities (which act like heat traps) have become. Not even to speak about nighttime when all those lights go on, burning more coal, adding more CO2 and more heat. (Heat ofcourse being another "pollutant"). Yes, this planet has it's cycles, but what should've been a natural degree of change has been completely magnified by our doings and goings. The weather from when I was a kid (about 2.5 decades ago) has changed considerably... that is way 2 much for a natural curve. I think we've had a massive impact and we are continuing to have a massive impact on this world. Already the ocean has lost a great deal of it's biodiversity, in fact the only other time something had such a great effect was when a comet / asteroid hit or there was enormous volcanic eruptions. Mmm, well no islands have been blown to bits in the last few years and to whit it's been a while since a 500m plus asteroid has struck. |
