There's a mg story here ....

The NY Times has an article about a designer who, after his work was dismissed in the 90s, intentionally disappeared for a decade and spent the time transforming himself.

For those that are curious, the photo mentioned near the end of the piece can be seen here.

Holy inhuman - but completely warranted - f*ck! That man looks soooooooooo scrumptious for a 60 year old. Almost like what ol' Die Hard shoulda looked like by now. Anyway, if that man's piece is for real I would not mind to go on my knees before him. Oh my lord.

I can definitely see this as an MG story, but a high end one where it's more about the psychological transformation than the muscle. An artist tortured by his own muses struggles to create the masculine ideal in others but finds that he must create it in himself. Through the process he comes close to his goal but finds true accomplishment and happiness not by changing his body but by changing his mind.

That's not what happened to Mr. Mugler (he still seems like a tortured artist and a rather prickly person) but no one said you had to be true to the source of your inspiration, you just have to follow inspiration to its own end.
