Time Off

I had surgery yesterday and during my recovery, my doctor has ordered me off exercise for 3-4 weeks! Any tips for maintenance or keeping my sanity during the off-time?

On the positive side, the nurse who inserted my IV said, "You have good veins. You must lift a lot of weights."

As someone who's ignored such instructions in the past, honestly just don't workout.

You'll end up slowing your healing in the long run if you try and get back to the gym early. Depending on what you are having surgery on, you can use the off time to work on non-strenuous things you've been ignoring -- like say stretching and flexibility, low impact cardio (like just sitting on the stationary bike and going slowly), or just using your recovery time to get your diet right.

I would do what the doc says to do. You need a break sometimes. You will feel better when you get back in there. Enjoy the time off. You will get back to ware you were if you do lose any of it.
