Parnoid Lifters The reason I finally decided to pit this topic up is because after talking with another user on the site. I won't use his name but I notice that some of te lifters I talk to more so the big ones which makes sense but they seem to be really parnoid about their photos. Why is this everyone? There could be several reason One- They might not look they way they claim, unless they have shown you personally, then they're just camera shy. Two- Once it hits the internet it's there, forever. Three- Maybe they're straight and don't want others to know that they're on this site, or "playing" straight. Four- have a bf/gf wife/husband and this is they're second life, which ties back to three Honestly it just could boil down to the person. Just sharing my thoughts. |

It could be that they feel slightly weird posing in pictures for other guys. Other than that, for me it would 1 and 2 (referring to BastianLe's post). |

speaking as a competive bodybuilder i don't like my picture being taken unless i know it's not going to land up all over the internet. Some guys can't afford that or don't want to deal with it. if you ask and he says no repsct it. but if you don't ask and do it anyway don't be suprised by the reaction you get. Some guys will get hostile. But if its far away then no problem. |

it's fascinated me too. In some ways i feel like some guys just don't have any need to document themselves. They get comments on their body all the time, so they really don't need a photo just to prove it on the internet. Other's I think don't know how to use a camera and don't really have a proper photo of themselves, other than with family or them being totally shit faced drunk. being a photographer, i think it would be a fun challenge to do a photo shoot with a bodybuilder and I look forward to doing one someday. |

I don't think it's about proof, but I will admit, I'm not even 50% sure. It might have to do with ego. |

Also consider that some big guys actually feel small. Paradoxically, they'd be the ones who would benefit the most by showing their pictures to others, as the external reaction might help them realign with reality. and yet.. also II, give them time. it takes time to realize that no one cares who you are, and no one can tell who you are if you take the head out of the picture.. __________________ . I have no desire to be a competitive bodybuilder, heck, for that matter, I still don't think that I deserve the title of "bodybuilder", but having reached 220 lbs. at 6'1" in height, I do seem to get some attention that I didn't used to receive. Anyway, I have become someone who doesn't share pics any more. I have just gotten so tired of someone asking for pics within the first couple lines of starting a chat, because that is obviously a case of I'm only going to be worth chatting with if they consider me hot enough. If I'm not hot enough, I'm not worth them wasting their time on. I've also had way, way too many cases of even after a chat has been going on for awhile and seems to be going well, I send a pic, and I instantly don't hear from them anymore. I have definitely developed the attitude of if I'm worth chatting with, I'm worth chatting with without a pic, and if we truly have been chatting well enough that a pic won't matter, then you don't need one. Besides, with the internet and online chatting being what it is, I could send a fake pic anyway, so again, asking for a pic doesn't mean you're getting a real one anyway. For me, online pic sharing is the equivilent of the guy at the bar who has ignored me for years, but now is interested in buying me a drink. Only people who are hot enough are worth spending any time with. Well if that's your attitude, then you're not the kind of person that I want to spend my time with. |

[FONT="Courier New"] Pictures showing up in the wrong place at the wrong time can literally kill a bodybuilding career. There are a few who have done gay porn that have faced this monster and lost because of the sponsors and promoters of the various contests. If a person has any desire to compete in the sport and to ever make any money from the sport they absolutely must control any and all photography and where it shows up. The only choice they have is to be extremely careful with regards to those taking photography. Remember orientation or "perceptions of orientation" absolutely killed Greg Lougainis with regards to commercial profit from his Olympic Athletic Awards. He was scheduled to appear on Cereal Boxes and that was killed because of a ton of homophobes who wrote in to the cereal manufacturer not wanting "this kind of person" to be an example for their kids. Remember that the dollars paid to title winning competitors by supplement manufacturers can be worth millions of dollars over a career. The sport of bodybuilding is not as low dollar as it once was. Having been around this sport for several decades I can vouch for the problems that people have been through for just this reason. Many of the men who modeled for Rip Colt had competitive physiques, but publication in one of Rip Colt's magazines has killed many opportunities. Basically this is the reason. It is sad and it is disgusting but this is the main reason that most men become so sensitive and personally I not only do not blame these men I support and would personally fight for their decision in that area.
