Competing for first time this year as well. Can't WAIT to get onstage and show this shit off! GROW IT TO SHOW IT! |
| |||
I love this thread...serious guys in!! good luck to all!! and dont forget to post ypur pics here!!! |
| |||
For me its a matter of when, not if... I'm looking at maybe the fall - the other option seems to be the late spring. Its hard to decide! |
| |||
My trainer is after me to do a fall show as well as Spring. __________________ NSCA / ISSA Certified Trainer |

Might depending on my condition this summer.... Theres this amateur contest in November that I am aiming to be in. |
| |||
Its similar for me... I'm trying to decide - I'd actually like to do a spring/fall, but the timing of the actual shows isn't perfect for that except with cross-continental travel. It could add to the adventure, I guess, though! I'm starting to really refine the diet staring today so I'm going to assess realistic timing by the end of the month. |
| |||
I had the satisfying moment of being declared "big enough" by the trainer a few weeks ago. Pretty fun... |

I am doing my 2nd this year. Did my first in august 2010. Had such a blast and now I gotta do more! Hoping to come in 10 -15lbs heavier than last year. Most likely a late summer show. |
| |||
We suspect I'll end up mid-170s so I can relate. |
| |||
So this Saturday marks 16 weeks out for one show, and 18 weeks out for another... Time to make a decision! |
| |||
Only one local NPC show here and it's in August. I'm in. |
| |||
First contest this year I am doing my first contest in November. I am 200lb already, this might be nothing for some guys but for me it is a huge accomplishment. I want to put another 20 pounds from now till July. Then start the diet for the contest. www.facebook.com/tenma.seo Last edited by seo.tenma; January 15th, 2011 at 05:36 PM. |

I was aiming to be ready for Spring Classic here in Ireland but looks like Autumn for me, classic class or first timers! |
| |||
hey doing alantic states here in the usa in nyc in june. After that show looking at either in july or august. the july show is teen collegete masters nationals a pro qualifying show or north americans in sugust another pro qualifying show. |
| |||
So officially 19.5 weeks out...... |
| |||
Hey man- good luck at the Northern. I was supposed to be doing that one but I am too far away from have the size i need-- I'm working with a coach now though and we are getting me ready for the Colorado In July. |
| |||
PLEASE post pictures of your transformation and progress to the stage! |
| |||
Actually I've been competing for a few years but won two competitions last year... The Mr Anglia Over 50 and the Novice Britain over 50. Nothing extraordinary about that except that I am now 64 and entering the Midlands Over with the 50 class on May 8th with the hope to qualify for the Britain Finals 3 weeks later. Good luck to you all above. I am well aware of the hard work, dieting sacrifices and show preparation you will put in and hope you all place well. |
| |||
13.5 Weeks-out today... It starting to come together. I'm shifting training to a different cycle for the next while, and the diet has come together. Its interesting how when you diet-down you can actually start to feel bigger. |
| |||
Well the diet continues... I'm eating more at this point and on carb-loading days I'm feeling my muscles swell quite a bit. I'm down a pound from last week. The eating is literally tiring; a 10 oz chicken breast seems to take forever to get through! |
| |||
Good luck, Calgary....hope the diet goes as you plan. Please keep us posted. |
| |||
Doing my second show in August. Finishing bulking until May, then start cutting. |
| |||
What did you learn from doing your first show? |
| |||
calgary can you relate more of your diet...cycles, carb loading etc... |
| |||
Quote:
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday - moderate carbs Thursday/Friday - high carbs (relatively) Saturday - very low carbs Sunday - low carbs 6 meals each day... 2 chicken based, 1 fish based, 2 eggwhite based, 1 protein isolate. The daily calories will decline as the weeks pass. Right now I'm eating more than previously, but loosing about a pound each week. Its interesting how "full" muscles feel on carbed-up days; its definitely noticable. |
| |||
The biggest thing that I took away from the show, other than the great people that I'd met, is that the size of your legs and your overall conditioning is what wins the contest. I was the tallest competitor at my show, and I knew that if I wanted to do better, the next time, I needed to improve a lot... but have been focusing on my legs and muscle maturity. |
| |||
Will be competing in 2012. Using this year to add as much muscle mass as possible and come in next summer's contest as a freak sized bodybuilder. Im 6'2" and 252 now. Looking for a good 15 pounds of muscle - more if i can. __________________ A future freak bodybuilder |

| |||
Competition and injuries BigJoey, Always interested in seeing pre contest diets. Can always learn a thing or two about what works for some and what might work for me. Not sure if I am going to compete again later this year. Working around a terrible left shoulder injury that has impacted my workouts significantly. Cheers, Bulkinupbig |

Calgary Thank you for the information dont forget pics at 10 weeks!!!! it will be awesome to see your transformation until 1 week! |
| |||
Well its less than 8 weeks out now... I'm not as far along as I would have liked, but I'm ok with where I've gotten to at this point. This week I've reached the -20 pounds point from my heaviest. There's probably another 12 to go. I can feel my body changing daily, which is exciting for sure. |
