reverse muscle growth

one of the hottest things for me is seeing the huge pro guys who stop taking roids and then comparing them with them in their huge days... it's a crazy before and after thing... can you imagine taking all that stuff and then blowing up like that? insane... for example...

Paul Dillet's transformations are the most amazing, specially because it's unbelievable that a man that has so much potential for muscle growth loses so much of it when he stops training.
this pic is from before he started training again in 2006:

It didn't take much for him to return to this size:

Find a megapost about him here

Paul Dillett

I once saw a picture of Paul Dillett as a teenager in high school. He's Canadian (I thought he was American). He was VERY skinny -- tall, beanpole arms and legs, sunken to flat chest. The development he eventually achieved is AMAZING, as is his return to shape.

He's a real motivator!

this seriously makes me want to do roids, just get monstrous and fucking dominate other people for a few years, carry around all that meat for a while, have people worship me, then hopefully shrink back down without any major health problems. fucking hot

I remember Levrone training back up . This clip was part of a followup by Muscular Development. They sent him to be tested for drugs, since he changed so drastically in a few weeks. It came back clean.

It is hard for us to imagine the genetics that the elite have, in any sport. for BBers, it means they grow muscle just by looking at a dumbell. look at pictures of Olympia-level BBers as teenagers, tell me if an average man can ever be like that, with or without steroids.

This thread is fascinating, but keep in mind, they didnt just stop the drugs, they dropped their training level drastically.

Thank you, Inm for that perspective and those words of wisdom. It is true, and very easy to forget, that professional bodybuilders are VERY different from you (well, maybe not you, given your stats. Maybe more me) and me. The ability to pack on muscle mass to the point where everything bulges and flows like it does on a pro or even gifted amateur bodybuilder is rare.

God bless 'em for being inspirational. God curse 'em for reminding us of our own shortcomings!

Thanks. As for my stats, sure I have the capacity to grow, but it comes slow, by lots of hard work, and staying somewhat lean is a life-long struggle. To remain on topic, I'll bring an opposing example: I know someone who is on the opposite side of the scale, and he demonstrates this truth well: trains hard, eats, even injects anything you can name.. looks somewhat muscular, that's all. Each sport requires some genetic traits, as does anything humans try to excel at.

wow, this is clearly one of the un-hottest things; seeing huge guys get small! ugh! thats why im always going to improve. Getting bigger must come along with getting older!

Kinda puts things in perspective what a burden it must be to actually maintain that kind of size. I don't think many people would just give that up readily.

Let's be honest: for some people, not myself, once you hit an apex in what you do, there's no point in maintaining that size. No doubt that staying that big is cumbersome, also taking into account that they have already reached their goal it's no surprise some competitors just admit there's no point in being that big any longer.

It's really easy for me to tell Victor Martinez to keep big, however I'm not paying for any of his bodybuilding costs so it's also really irrelevant.

By the way katkat, nice body man. I want your delt workout

it's not a burden, its a challenge... but it is an exciting challenge that always has new goals... but i guess to a bodybuilder who doesn't really want to be a bodybuilder, it could be viewed as a really (big) burden to them. All that food gets in the way of living a normal life to much of an extent... but it may also be for health reasons some stop, as in Tom Prince.

New Directions

They fall in love and she wants a provider not a gym rat. He goes on anti-depressants and suddenly doesn't need to be big any more. He loses his financial resources and never looks back. People change. It's not like it's an easy cheap road staying that big, focused and in shape. And the drugs sure aint healthy in the long run, just ask Scot Klein or that hot Sager guy, well never mind, you can't ask them.

I think people who are naturally big and who work out moderately will tend to keep the same size along most of their life. I prefer men who are not as big but who keep it for longer periods of time, rather than these monsters. If you need too much money, too much effort, too much steroids to keep your body with a big size, I think it's not the path to a balanced life. It's much better when muscle derives from a healthy lifestyle you can keep in time. That is what I call "real muscles".
