Further to the discussion about energy to muscle

This comes from February 2009:

The brick layer suffered appalling burns after he struck an underground power cable while building a wall. He was thrown 15 feet backwards and set ablaze by the shock. His apprentice poured two buckets of water over 23 stones Mr Watson before summoning an ambulance.

The married father-of-two was rushed to hospital where he was treated for first degree burns to 40 per cent of his body. Despite his injuries, doctors told his family he was lucky to be alive as his bulging muscles had soaked up the bulk of the electricity.

His son Darren, 20, said: "The doctors said his muscles had absorbed much of the shock because they were so big. They said had he weighed 10 or 11 stone he would probably have died.

"Despite everything that has happened we think he is very lucky."

Mr Watson, who trains in the gym seven days a week, had been building a brick wall as a favour to a friend at the time of the shocking accident. He was in the process of tapping a five inch metal peg into the ground to mark out the foundations when it hit the cable. Darren said: "He banged the peg with the lump hammer and it went straight into this cable that was one inch underground. It exploded in his face and blew him back about 15 feet and his whole body was set on fire.

"There was a young lad with him who threw a couple of buckets of water over him. His clothes and skin were burnt off. He was in excruciating pain. It turns out the cable ran from an electricity pylon into 120 homes. Mr Watson, from Weymouth, Dorset, was rushed to a specialist burns hospital at Salisbury, Wilts, for treatment. But because he inhaled some flames he suffered breathing difficulties and had to be put into an induced coma to allow him to recover.

Darren, a carpenter, said: "He has come out of the coma and is out of intensive care and has had skin crafts to his arms, legs and neck. We are not sure how long he will be in hospital for but doctors said it will take two years for the wounds to heal.

But we are thankful that dad's hobby is body-building. He weighs about 23 stones and his solid. If he wasn't so big and muscly he would not be with us."

Mr Watson, who recently moved with wife Pauline, 49, to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, is now being comforted by her and their two sons, Darren and Dean, 25, at his hospital bedside. The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into the incident.

Well, it makes sense. The larger a person is, the longer it will take for fire or electricity to do damage to the more important organs. However, he should've checked out the ground first. For someone who does brick laying and what not, it sure was a stupid mistake. Lucky for him he didn't have any other problems. Are there pictures of this man before and after the accident?

But I cannot see any other pictures relating to the article. If it helps, the person's name was Keith Watson and according to one report, it would take two years (i.e by the end of February 2011) for the injuries to heal
