High school reunion I was always lousy at sports and had to take a lot of crap from the jocks, so life in high school was pretty miserable. I remember being picked up and stuffed head first into a trash can one day. In my senior year of high school I started weight lifting. Yes this is your typical guy gets buff story. Anyway, someone decided that our 5 year high school reunion should be a pool party and picnic which was fine for me because I was getting ready for a bodybuilding contest at the gym where I work out, and was trying to get a natural tan. I was really looking forward to seeing my old friends and see how they were doing. After 5+ years of lifting I was about 6' and 225 lbs. I was in the cutting phase so my body fat was below 7%. I will never forget the reactions when I took my shirt off. Heads turned, and I got checked out by quite a few of the ladies and some of the men. Ever notice how when guys see a really muscular guy, they tend to grab their upper arms in comparison? Saw a lot of that happening, especially the former jocks who I think now felt threatened by the guy they used to laugh at. Apparently I was making a lot of the guys uneasy and self-concious and even saw some walk the other way when I walked toward them. Saw quite a few bulges under their swim suits which they were desparately trying to hide. One even asked me to put my shirt on cause my abs were making him feel uneasy. Guess it was ok to have your shirt off if you're out of shape, but you make people feel inferior if you're in shape. Once I put my shirt back on people got friendlier. I never saw that coming. The committee had planned a lot of games that day. The watermelon toss was fun. Mine went almost 10 feet farther than my closest competitor's did. He was the one who had stuffed me in the trash can and was always proud of being one of the strongest guys in the school. So he wasn't happy I had beaten him. I decided to be a good sport and I went over to shake his hand. Doesn't he decide to try and test his grip strength by trying to crush my hand. We stood there while he is squeezing with everything he had. I squeezed back and when doing so caused the muscle in my forearms to flex forcing veins to the surface. Made his forearm look small. Then I Watched the expression of pain in his face as I crushed his hand. I must have outweighed him by a good 35 pounds of muscle so I don't know what he expected to happen. He still refused to accept that I was stronger than him so he comes after me determined to beat me in something. I heard his friends telling him to back off before he gets hurt. Look at the size of him they were saying. You don't stand a chance. I was starting to get worried since it would have been so easy to hurt him. So I said, why don't we armwrestle. I win you back off. Didn't tell him what I would do if by some miracle he would have beaten me. So we sit down at a table. My upper arm at least 2 inches bigger than his. Someone says go and I feel this weak push from him. Even before I even started to try he couldn't move my arm. Then I pushed his arm down and ended the match. Must have taken all of 5 seconds. Then I got up from the table, went around, picked him up off his chair and carried him like a baby to the deep end of the pool and dropped him in. Not the same as being put in a trash can, but certainly a good representation. As I left the pool I heard the applause. So what I came home with was knowing that people take time to change and don't like to be reminded that they are not in shape. People who were jerks in high school may possibly be jerks for life. |

That is absolutely the case and no amount of changes will make them realise that. __________________ The stronger they are, the more muscled they are |

It is better to suffer through high school (as I did) and enjoy the rest of your life, than to enjoy high school and realize that you've already passed your "prime." It sounds to me as though trash can man was going through that when he tried to prove himself to you. I'd be curious to see whether he bulks up for your next high school reunion. Even so, he might do that out of spite, instead of out of the desire to better himself. |

I too didn't have the greatest time in high school. I wouldn't say I was picked on, but I definitely wasn't popular or had a body to be proud of. I actually have a good friend who gets competitive like that. He gets pissed off and always has to be better at something. I've learned to deal with it, plus we don't see each other as often so it's even less of a big deal. That being said, once I get further in my transformation I definitely will want to visit him and show him up in various activities just to piss him off. All in fun of course of course heh... Hey at least you had satisfaction in getting a form of justice though. it does suck that some people can't let go of petty high school stupidity |

1) How big was the other dude, then and now? 2) What were your stats back in high school? 3) Did the guy not struggle when you picked him up to dump him? |

He was about 6' 2" the typical football player who wore a letter jacket and "ruled" the school so to speak. He was a good 240 lbs, back then. I remember being impressed that he could bench 300. Today he has a beer belly, lost a lot of his hair and lives in memory of his glory days on the high school field. Guess he still weighs that much, but replaced muscle with fat. I was only about 140 lbs in high school and just under 6 feet at the time. Had a little growth spurt when I started lifting heavy. Today I weigh over 100 pounds more than I did in high school and do more powerlifting than bodybuilding. Funny but he didn't try to struggle, but it happened pretty fast and I was holding him very tight. I think he was shocked that I was able to carry him so easily and didn't realize what I was planning to do. I don't know what happened after I left that day. I decided I was just not going to waste any more time on the high school crowd. Last edited by stronguns; July 12th, 2011 at 11:36 PM. |

Great story...thanks for sharing. Do you still live in the same town? If not, what were some of the other reactions you got? I graduated from college at a skinny 140 and am now a buff 230--so I have an idea of how you feel. I do enjoy seeing folks from high school or college whom I haven't seen in ages. Their reactions are so motivating. |
