London To our friends in London and in the UK, our hearts and prayers go out to you. Hope you guys are all right. |
| |||
Yes, as soon as I saw the news, I immediately thought of our UK members. chegsUK, Marco, and UKBeefy (alphabetic order), and any others, I'm sure we ALL are hoping you are OK. I also hope someone there thanks Mr. Blair for following Bush in going after Iraq, instead of going after Al Queida... Take care all. Brent. __________________ God is in the rain. |

I'll second what Brent said. Our thoughts are with you guys. |

Hey Just wanted to say thanks to all offering your thoughts and prayers. I live at King's Cross, and my flat is within the police cordon. It is just a really strange feeling. It is so quiet where normally it is always busy. I'm not old enough to remember the IRA bombing campaigns, but people say this is much worse. But everyone is staying calm, and no-one will let them change our way of life. Whatever anyone's feelings on Blair-Bush and Iraq, these fanatics would have done this anyway (assuming that it is Al-Qaeda terrorists who did this). They just like killing. They'll never be able to overcome freedom, justice and respect. London is the most multi-culural city in the world, and today's incidents will only bring the community stronger together to stand up for the things we believe in, the things that the British have fought and died for over the years. Thanks again for your prayers, God be with you, Jamie __________________ "Give us the tools and we will finish the job" |

Well-said, Jamie....and as O put it, our hearts and prayers are with y'all. |

I would also like to join Jamie in thanking our fellow board members for your thoughts and prayers. Jamies - I do hope that you have not been too affected by this. It is tragic! I use the tube system about 3 times a week. Thankfully, today was my "off" day to see my sponsor whom lives in central london (Zone 1). I go through Kings cross tube station every time. I did think that Mr Blair did the right thing by allowing the G8 thing to carry on. We must not allow any of us to get bullied by these guys. We must continue our efforts to make this world a better place. Obviously Blair did come back to London to speak with emergency services. But, he, as i understand it has returned to the G8 summit. Tomorrow, hopefully most of London will be back to its usual pace, apart from the odd area which will naturally be under investigation. It does seem as though its something to do with the Al-Qaeda terrorists, but then who knows... Its ironic, they say its related to religion, but muslims as far as i know are peaceful people, so these, minority (assumming), like jamie said, just like killing for the sake of it... Like Jamie said... They'll never be able to overcome freedom, justice and respect. London is the most multi-culural city in the world, and today's incidents will only bring the community stronger together to stand up for the things we believe in, the things that the British have fought and died for over the years. I so agree, they'll never break the values that are so dear to our hearts and it WILL make us stronger and bring us closer together. Well said Jamie! Thanks again guys. My prayers are also with those that have been affected by this tragic event. God Bless you guys! Marc __________________ "Life is what you make of it" ... Like"O"said, my 1st thought after hearing the news was for our UK members.Then,for all the hard-working,good muslims&arabs in our city&around the world.Al Quaeda has got to understand that they make so much trouble their own people!&we have to understand that most muslims;whatever their grievances;are as frightened of terrorists as anybody else.Maybe moreso.(The extremists are as ruthless with muslims who"aren't muslim enough!") |

Lets also not forget christian extreamists, like the ones that did the Oaklahoma City bombings. Extreamists are bad, no matter where there are from. __________________ God is in the rain. |

I heard the news and felt that all-too-familiar shock. I feel helpless to even express myself, but i sincerely wish that London recovers soon and know that we may be on another continent, but we feel it too. |

I'm very relieved that no-one I knew was caught up in it all - after the Olympic decision, it seems we've had the very best and worst of living here in London on consecutive days. But to echo what people have said here, we have to show the people who commit acts like these that we will not allow them to destroy the way we live. |

Well was on the tube as normal this morning and even got to my destination earlier than expected. Seemed to be no problems at all (I was using 2 lines completely uninvolved with yesterday's events). For those who have never been to London I would point out that London is a very large spread out city (it is much less dense than New York and sprawls much further) so even the events of yesterday only affected very small parts albeit have incapacitated the tube on the northern edge of the Central London area. Still there are plenty of other ways of getting around. We are actually very used to bomb scares and actual bomb events with many of us having some experience of the latter through IRA bombs ( my old office was bombed twice by them). Indeed visitors are usually surprised that for a long time the tube has no trash bins anywhere and we are used to taking our rubbish home/up to the surface. We are used to rescheduling our travel or walking given tube strikes, service problems, security incidents etc. So without wishing to denigrate the events of yesterday the vast majority of London is getting on with ordinary life. |
