"This thread" being...? Or was this post moved from another thread, perhaps the Creatine Monohydrate thread? I saw that you'd mentioned it previously... That would explain the enigmatic lack of context here. |

For the record, I just cleared that thread (Creatine Monohydrate) out again, of all 28 spam posts from 4 different users @ 2 distinct IP addresses. We'll see what happens now... |

It was regarding CM, yes. xoxo Richard |

Over-moderation maybe? While I definitely appreciate the moderation system as a means of reducing spam, I've kind of been stonewalled by it. At least two of my posts have failed to show up after the site told me they would post pending approval by a moderator. While I also appreciate that the moderators are human and have real lives to live outside of the Evolution forum, I do enjoy this site and I want to remain an active participant. What I'm asking, then, is if anything can be done to get me around the security provisions so that I can actually post again. Thank you! (Apparently I can post, but I'm still wondering why my posts disappeared. Is it because they included links? I was trying to get us to Rory Norman's bodyspace under the "Perfection?" thread.) |

You'd need to ask Flexodus. I'm one of the regulars (there are a few of us) who have been granted "one touch ban and clean" power. Employing it deletes the user and ALL threads / postings by the user. (And there are some built in limitations; if you've been a member long than X amount of time -- a year? something like that -- you're protected. Plus it's all subject to review.) Which is a long way of saying (a) I'm not a moderator, (b) I can't delete posts, except as described above, and (c) I'm not sure why a post would need prior approval. Thanks... Richard Quote:

This is the message I keep getting, but it's only when I try to post on the one thread. Weird. "Thank you for posting! Your post will not be visible until a moderator has approved it for posting. You will now be taken back to the forum. If you opted to post a poll, you will now be allowed to do so." |

Hi Curiosity, Thanks for bringing this to my attention. The spam scanning mechanism (Akismet) scans all incoming new posts, and will send them into a moderation queue if the message matches Akismet's algorithm for what it suspects is spam. Usually it's in the case of messages which meet the pattern of having a short line of text, followed by a URL. I'm suspecting this is why your previous message was flagged as spam by the system. (I've manually approved your prior post). I've now made a change to the spam scanning settings, so that users who have 10 or more posts will be automatically exempt from the spam scan. This should eliminate false positives among legitimate users. Sorry for any headaches! -flexodus |
