Starting out small

Ok, so I'm not much of a bodybuilder at the moment. I'm more of a fantasizer, but still I think I could start out potentially. I have a lean body at the moment; somehow I've not turned fat despite eating quite a bit. Aparently thats high metabolism but I don't know if thats really got anything to do with muscles.
My main issues are probably equipment and motivation. For now, all I have for equipment is two 3kg dumbells. Does anyone know how far I could get with them alone?
Still, I might consider getting a gym subscription, when I actually have money and I feel up for it. If anyone has any tips or comments regarding my situation at the moment, I'd be more than happy to hear them. Of course, don't be afraid to be honest if you think I won't get far with what I have at the moment

My first suggestion is that you should probably aim for a independent/loca gym over a chain. They tend to be more understanding of people with tight incomes, and overall are always far more pleasant in my experiences.

The local gym in town, I actually kept track of my workout days, and after my rest days came out to 30 days, he gave me a month free. He's also allowed me to pay a slightly inflated fee (that I came up with) to use the gym on a single day basis, as the college gym I'm at has a separate weight room only open on the week days.
