There's a LOT to appreciate about black and white. You can really focus on mass, texture, tone...all of which is beautiful with these bodies here...

I am very intrigued about this one and am wondering if he took this for a political reason. You see that to me says "War is he!!" and yet to a supporter of wars it could easy say "War makes a man out of you". Has Mr. Cicherillo ever made his views on the Iraq war public at all?

Exactly--and also a very popular genre of BB pic: Eddie Robinson, Joey Decaminada, Sergey Zicuncov, etc., etc.

BTW, the first three guys in mb82000's most recent post are Istvan Nemeth, Jon Perrier and Erkan Demir. And the last one is Eddie Robinson, although I would never have known without the tiny ID in the lower right of the photo.

Wow, thanks for posting that last picture of Steve Reeves!!! It's one I've never seen, and I didn't think that was possible. With the shoulder strap overalls and the patch on the rear it looks like it could have been a costume test for Lil' Abner. I had always heard he was considered for the role, just like he had been considered for James Bond, Doc Savage and the Man Wtih No Name, but never thought it went so far as seeing how he looked as the character.

No prob. Don't know any of the details, but these two seem to be from the same series:

So. Fucking. HOT.

They just don't make men like they used to. And was Steve that bad an actor? He was so gorgeous that I would have cast him on the spot for damn near anything. If it wasn't working out then I'd just have him rip his shirt off. That'll please the critics.

OOPS...two more! (and these are even decent quality)

These last two come from one of those amazing "home made, labor of love" sites on vintage bodybuilding: www.v-m-p.org

(There are also a couple of others whose URLs I've mislaid: "Retro Muscle" and "Classic Bodybuilders". Try Google.)

Holy Moley!!! Did they have NO idea how tight that costume was going to be on him? Then again, maybe they did and that was the point. It's like they were going for Lil' Abner as a superhero. Thanks again for posting these. Really made my day.

People wonder..."What causes homosexuality?"...

..the answer: "STEVE REEVES"! He not only tested for Li'l Abner, but Al Capp always said he was the original inspiration for the strip (as Marilyn Monroe was for Daisy Mae)

Yeah, I read that too. Apparently, they even nicknamed him "Lil Abner" because of it.

However, to those who wonder why he wasn't cast in the movie, it's one thing to be wooden in a campy muscle costume drama--and another in a comedy in which he would be expected to act in character as a hillbilly. Scary thought.

(By the way, glamma, I included the Kal Szkalak pic just for you. Great name to try to spell btw--even when it's right, it looks wrong. Too bad you can't use it in Scrabble.)

I was surprised to hear that he's the same height as me (5'5"). I must be doing something wrong.
